There was a time when Seva Dal training was mandatory to get Congress membership. Indira Gandhi made Rajiv Gandhi join the Congress via the Seva Dal too. From Nehru to Rahul, all Congress leaders referred to the Seva Dal members as the ‘true soldiers of Congress’. Wani credited Congress’s belief in democracy and inclusive ideology for the growth. In order to ensure that everyone has equal rights and opportunities, he continued, the party works with everyone and has complete faith in the Constitution.

Wani charged the government with creating division, hatred, and continued unemployment in the nation. The concept of India, he claimed, was constantly under attack.Hatred is deepening every day across the country. People are burdened due to inflation and unemployment, but the government is unconcerned,” he said.He added Congress will have to unite youngsters, women, deprived classes, and intellectuals to combat hatred and unemployment and to ensure inclusiveness.Wani said the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress’s biggest public outreach exercise in decades, was the beginning of steps to unite people. “The yatra has given a new lease of life to tens of millions of Congress workers across the country.” He added the yatra has shown Congress’s ideology is widely and robustly supported. He mentioned how India developed while the Congress was in power and stated that within a short period of time, it not only developed into a powerful democracy but also a powerhouse in terms of economic, nuclear, and geopolitical matters. The nation leads other countries in the fields of agriculture, education, medicine, information technology, and services.

Speaking on the occasion, JKPCC Working President Bhalla said Congress has always worked for the well-being and progress of the people. “We firmly believe in equality of opportunity guaranteed in political, economic & social rights, enshrined in the Constitution of India,” said Bhalla. He attacked the government, saying the fundamentals of India are being constantly attacked and the society is being "divided by hate".He also said that India progressed due to Congress' approach of inclusion and taking everyone along.India not only emerged as a successful and strong democracy but within a few decades it became a super power in economic, nuclear and strategic areas, Bhalla said, adding, it is among the top nations of the world in agriculture, education, medical, IT and services sector."This did not happen on its own. This happened due to Congress' faith in democracy and our inclusive ideology of taking everyone along and due to our full faith in the Constitution that gives equal rights and opportunities to all," he said.

Bhalla said: I am proud that I am a part of such an organization which chose the path of truth, non-violence and struggle in every situation and always took every step in public interest. Bhalla noted that India progressed as the Congress displayed courage to free the poor, oppressed and Dalits of their thousands of years of fretters and honestly worked towards taking the freedom to everyone and taking them forward. He recalled Mahatma Gandhi's words that he did not see politics as power but connected it with issues of social reform, working against untouchability, economic self-reliance, equal rights, against communalism and male-dominated society."It is the Congress' pledge to protect the nation's boundaries and its social fabric and protect the rights of every citizen and ensure education-employment opportunities for people," he said, recalling the numerous laws brought out during the UPA government in this regard. He said Rahul Gandhi has made a beginning towards this through his Bharat Jodo Yatra and that is why it is getting an overwhelming support from the public and the BJP is rattled."We urge every citizen to join the Yatra," he said and added, "We assure you that we are ready to live up to your expectations".

Ravinder Sharma said Congress ideology based on secularism and ‘unity in diversity’ is the only way to keep the country and these Islands strong and united. He highlighted the sufferings being faced by common man, small traders, because of GST and price hike of essential commodities. He urged the partymen to work hard to strengthen the Congress party. He said that the history of the INC is the history of modern India as it is the largest and oldest democratic political party in the world. He said this government does not care its poor people and is bent on making their lives tougher and more miserable. The Congress was committed to the welfare of the general public and would help them raise their voice, he added.

Manmohan Singh speaking on the occasion said that Congress had contributed to the freedom struggle in a way other parties had not, adding that everything from the constitution to the national flag bore the hallmark of the Congress. Our history is that we have given a voice to the people and have established the democratic system,” he said.“No matter who criticizes us, even they have to acknowledge Congress’ contributions to freedom, constitution, national flag, national anthem, national song and social justice,” he added. He said, “Congress had stood for multiculturalism and tolerance, but that was changing under the BJP.

Rajinder Rasrania, AICSD Secretary incharge J&K said that our main aim is to regain the honour and self-respect of the Seva Dal and turn it into an organisation to help in national building and in service of the nation. Our main purpose will be to spread the message of peace and secularism that the Congress stands for. We plan to rope in volunteers in every village and town of the country," said Rasrania. "We have already come a long way in a short period of time. The Seva Dal volunteers no more perform salutes now. In coming days you will see Seva Dal actively participating in political programmes. It will, however, also keep doing its old duties," said Rasrania. He said the main aim of the organisation — one of the oldest institutions of the Congress — would be to help in nation building and be in service for the nation.

Congress Sewa Dal J&K Chief Vijay Sharma Babbi said that the Congress Seva Dal has its roots in nationality, patriotism and pro-social activities, adding Seva Dal very much remains in the minds of the people through Movements. Maintaining that the Seva Dal dedicated itself for the service of the nation and the people, he said that the Seva Dal is credited with launching Civil Movements for genuine public causes. Claiming that Prime Minister Modi’s dream of making India Congress-free would not materialise as long as Seva Dal exists, he called upon the Congress workers to educate the younger generation on Seva Dal activities and programmes.
