| Bhalessa Residents Demand Action Against Illegal Crushers | | Bhalessa, May 24 (Scoop News)- Residents of the Bhalessa region have strongly demanded immediate intervention from authorities against the increasing number of mobile hot mixing plants and illegal crushers operating in Bhalessa, Gandoh, Doda, Thathri and Bhaderwah. Locals expressed serious concern over environmental degradation and the impact on public health caused by these activities.
According to residents, illegal mining and riverbed mining activities are taking place in various areas, with muck and debris allegedly being dumped into rivers and natural water bodies. They stated that such practices are not only damaging the fragile ecosystem of the region but are also threatening water resources and agricultural land that many people depend upon for their livelihood.
People of the area alleged that a number of crushers and hot mixing plants are functioning close to schools, hospitals, residential areas and local habitations, raising concerns regarding air pollution, dust emissions, excessive noise and health hazards for local communities. Residents said that continuous operation of such units near populated areas could adversely affect children, elderly people and patients.
Local social worker Ghulam Mustafa Batt said that environmental protection and public welfare should be given priority and that authorities must ensure that all industrial activities comply with environmental laws and guidelines. He emphasized that the concerns of local residents should not be ignored.
Prominent social figure Chuni Lal also expressed concern regarding the situation and appealed to the concerned departments to conduct inspections and take strict measures against any illegal activity harming the environment and local communities.
RTI activist Shoket Ali urged the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and concerned authorities to take immediate cognizance of the issue and initiate strict action against violators. He stressed that environmental regulations must be implemented effectively to safeguard the natural beauty and ecological balance of the Bhalessa region.
Residents collectively appealed to the administration and environmental agencies to investigate the matter thoroughly, identify violations and take prompt corrective measures to prevent further environmental damage and ensure the safety and well-being of the people.
