DDC Budgam warns strict action against traffic violators
Asks transporters to provide hassle-free service to public




Budgam, April 24 (Scoop News)-District Development Commissioner, Budgam Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today chaired a joint meeting of officers and transporters to review overall operation system of public/private transport across all major routes in the district at New Conference Hall, Budgam.
The meeting was attended by ADC Budgam, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, Dr. Bilal Mahiuddin Bhat (IAS probationer), ARTO Budgam, Mubashir Jan, Dy.SP Traffic, Mr Baba, Dy.SP Headquarter, Feroz Yehya, Tehsildar Headquarter, representatives of transport unions from Magam, Budgam, Chadoora, Khansahab.
Stressing on hassle-free transport facility at all routes across the district, the DDC directed concerned to take stringent action against habitual traffic violators. The DDC asked that drivers operating in Budgam must follow traffic rules and avoid indulging in roof topping, over loading and other violations. The DDC urged transporters to increase number of buses and cabs on all routes to ensure better transport services to the passengers. She also asked concerned to start lady special bus service from Budgam and Magam to Kashmir University for female passengers. She said all drivers shall adhere instructions and stop at identified places to avoid chocking of roads while dropping or boarding passengers. The DDC also directed concerned to ensure smooth plying of sumo service between Srinagar and Budgam through Bemina route and asked concerned to ensure there is no laxity or carelessness by transporters in responding the directions.
She directed concerned to conduct weekly anti- encroachments drives at Budgam and Magam towns and impose heavy fine on road side vendors, shopkeepers or any offender who indulges in encroachments of footpath, roads and sideways at all Bus Stands and busy markets.
During the meeting transporters raised various demands/issues with the DDC including bringing drivers and conductors under unorganized workers sector of Labor department.
The DDC assured that the district administration will address all genuine issues of transporters including providing of lavatory blocks and drinking water facility points at all identified spots in the district particularly at New Bus Stand Budgam.
