Jammu, July 21 (Scoop News)- Panun Kashmir held a meeting of its Executive Council at Jammu today to take stock of the recent political developments.The meeting was held under the chairmanship of the President, Virender Raina and was attended by Kamal Bagati General Secretary(Org), Ashok Chrungoo Treasurar, Vimla Chrungoo, Secretary-DOPK, Sameer Bhat, Convenor PK Youth, P.K. Bhan, P.N.Pandita Sneh Ganhar, and G.L.Drabu.
Virender Raina while speaking on the occasion said that Kashmiri Pandits are a unique case in the history where a community was forced to become refugees in their own country. Kashmiri Pandits had to leave their abode of more than 5000 years due to persecution on religious grounds simply because of the fact that they practiced a different religion and the much talked about Secularism was possible because of the presence of Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir.
Raina while speaking on the occasion said that the exodus of a peace loving community like Kashmiri Pandits is one of greatest tragedies of modern India. Raina added that the Indian State failed to preserve and protect a tiny minority of Pandits in Kashmir. He said that the Modi government enkindles great hope in the community that the terrorism in Kashmir would be wiped off lock stock and barrel and the natives of Kashmir would again be able to settle in their Homeland of thousands of years. He added that the political ecosystem today was the most favourable in decades for the final settlement of the KP issues. He also added that for the reversal of genocide the illegitimate pillars of constitutional mechanations like Art. 370 and 35-A must go and there should be reframing of the constituencies and delimitation needs to be revisited. The resettlement of Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir is a political issue of huge significance and no adhoc measures would be acceptable to the displaced community.
Kamal Bagati, General Secretary said that Kashmiri Pandits as the indigenous people of Kashmir have the first and the foremost right on the territory of Kashmir and the day is not far when our aspirations would be realised in full measure. Maargdarshan Resolution 1991 is the only loadstar for realisation of Homeland in Kashmir. He said that there is a near unanimity in the displaced community about this demand. This particular demand has neither been challenged by anyone nor a parallel to it has been sought by any forum. All equations for return and resettlement are either Homeland oriented or Homeland inspired. Those who are hobnobbing with the separatist forces, responsible for our ethnic cleansing and mass exodus, are rendering a disservice not only to the community but also to the nation at large. Panun Kashmir rejects all sorts of Goodwill of the majority community since Kashmiri Pandits were the victims of the same facade of Goodwill in Kashmir.
Panun Kashmir demands that a dialogue be held with the credible leadership of the community which has contributed towards the cause of the society all these three decades of exile.
