Chairman LC for upholding communal harmony, brotherhood in JK



Kargil, August 01 (S coop News)-Chairman Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali, Thursday urged people to uphold the values of communal harmony, brotherhood—terming them as essential parameters for growth and development of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Chairman said that this while addressing people during the annual Gustor (Festival) of Karsha Gonpa Zanskar here today. He said that in the present era communities ought to strive hard to cherish and promote these virtues to establish a progressive and prosperous society.

Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan, Executive Councillor for Tourism and Zanskar Affairs Engineer Phunsog Tashi, Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary, Councillor Cha Stanzin Lakpa, Councillor Karsha Stanzin Jigmet, Nominated Councillor Stanzin Chosgyal, SDM Zanskar Rakesh Sharma, Head Lama Karsha Monastery Lobzang Motup and other prominent lamas, King Zangla Nima Namgyal, district and sub divisional officers and organizers of the festival were present on the occasion.

The Chairman while congratulating the head Lama of Karsha monastery, members of Karsha Chamling Gonpa Zanskar and other members associated with organizing the grand festival expressed optimism that the celebrations associated with it will go a long way in reiterating and reinforcing the notion of the victory of good over evil besides helping to revive and promote the rich monastic traditions.

Haji Anayat said that that the coming up of new administrative units is a welcome step and district status if granted to Zanskar will usher in a new era of unprecedented growth and development in the area. He assured people that the issue would be vigorously taken up at appropriate levels.

The Chairman hailed the steps of the Central Government and the Governor administration for grant of divisional status to Ladakh region, sanctioning of Cluster University and construction of Padum Darcha road towards Manali.

Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan also spoke on the occasion and congratulated the organizers for having organized the annual festival in a successful manner.
