DGP J&K sanctions Meritorious Scholarship/Scholarship of over Rs. 1.35 lakhs for 16 Police Wards


Srinagar, September 25 (Scoop News)- Continuing with its endeavour to boost the morale and assist the wards of Police personnel, Director-General of Police, J&K Shri Dilbag Singh has sanctioned meritorious scholarship in favour of six wards of serving police personnel. He also sanctioned scholarship in favour of ten wards of SPOs who laid down their lives in violence/militancy related incidents in the J&K.

Vide Police Headquarters Order No. 2522 rupees 61,500 in favour of six wards of serving police personnel who have secured 80% and above marks in the annual examination of graduation/Post Graduation during the academic session 2019-2020.

Rupees 12000 each has been sanctioned in favour of Iram Mehboob (M Sc 82.6%), Farhan Manzoor (B Tech 91.1%) and Adil Ahmad (B Sc 90.5%). Rupees 8500 each has been sanctioned in favour of Farhat Mehboob (BA 85.1%), Mehak Khurshid (B Tech 84.1%) and Sahil Sharma (B Tech 80.4%). The meritorious scholarship is sanctioned out of Central Welfare Fund for the academic session 2019-20.

The DGP also granted scholarship of rupees 76000 vide Order No. 2520 in favour of ten schools going wards of deceased SPOs who laid down their lives in violence/militancy related incidents in the J&K.

Rupees 10000 each has been sanctioned in favour of four wards who are studying in secondary classes or pursuing graduation. Similarly, rupees 6000 each has been sanctioned in favour of six wards who are studying in different primary or middle classes. The scholarship is sanctioned out of Police Pariwar Fund for the academic year 2019-20.

The scholarships are granted every year for the school going children of serving/deceased police personnel, police martyrs and SPOs with an aim to boost their morale and inculcate the spirit of competitiveness among the wards of Police personnel and also to provide them financial assistance in pursuing education.
