ADC Leh Holds Meeting to address Road Accident Concerns

Leh,November 14 (Scoop News)-The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Leh Ghulam Mohd (JKAS) chaired a meeting focusing on strategies to reduce road accidents and enhance road safety at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Leh on November 13.
During the meeting, key discussions were held on measures to address road accident-related issues across the region. The Additional Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of placing clear and visible signage on priority basis at high-risk areas to alert drivers and pedestrians.
In a step towards enhanced safety, it was directed that speed detectors would be installed on key roadways to monitor and regulate vehicle speed effectively. Additionally, he stressed the need for innovative strategies to improve traffic control and reduce congestion, particularly in high traffic areas.
Stakeholders and representatives from various Transport Union, also raised their concerns and shared issues regarding road safety and prevention of further accidents. The ADC assured them that their concerns would be addressed and emphasized that the administration would actively work towards resolving these issues.
To ensure a structured approach, Additional Deputy Commissioner also suggested a committee with Executive Engineer R&B, Traffic Police, BRO to submit a report for installation of Traffic Lights on different Chowks of Leh District. The Committee shall also submit locations for construction of flyover in Traffic congested areas especially Choglamsar. Further the committee shall submit innovative suggestions for location, speed meters with solar connections and also to develop an App for future modernization of Traffic management in Leh District. He also directed officials to strictly adhere to the Supreme Court guidelines on road safety, underscoring the administration’s commitment to regulatory compliance.
The ADC expressed optimism about these developments, stating that with consistent implementation of advanced traffic and road safety measures, the region could achieve a professional standard in road management within the next two to three years.
