Admn must create awareness on Sakhi Scheme (women helpline): Rajni Sethi

Jammu, June 09 (Scoop News)-State Spokesperson of J&K BJP Rajni Sethi asks administration to create awareness of Sakhi scheme, a Centre govt. 24*7 helpline to aid women in domestic violence cases.
Rajni Sethi accompanied by BJP State Convenor of Auyshmaan Bharat Scheme Kunti Jasrotia and BJP Mahila Morcha Activist Dr. Avni Pachnanda rued that although the scheme has been launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Central Government a few years back, still nobody knows about the scheme due to lack of awareness campaign and passive attitude by the concerned department, while she was addressing a Press Conference at party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
Rajni Sethi was highlighting the Standings against domestic violence / the unheard story of “Sakhi” one stop centres. She said that it is unfortunate that despite the golden leaf scheme “SAKHI” one stop centre, intended to support the women affected by violence in private and public spaces is left only on papers as the women across the union territory has no knowledge about the said scheme.
Former J&K BJP President Mahila Morcha and now the Spokesperson of BJP Rajni Sethi visited the remotes places of UT of J&K and found on various cases of domestic violence against women took a surge during lockdown with no help from the said scheme since not many are aware of the helpline number “181” and the made of action of this scheme.
Rajni Sethi wants a proposal publication / awareness opening of various helpline number including 181 Sakhi one stop centre since majority of cases goes unreported for the fear of social stigma and family. She impressed upon few important highlights of the proposal being:
The administration should come into action and a new women’s commission should be formed.
Various OSC’s centres with various helpline number should be set up in for flung areas of UT where no access to interest is given and also more and more staff should be hired thereby giving employment to the core section and protection to the silent section.
Also, many other unheard schemes launched by the centre should come into action by the administration of J&K UT so that the local public gets benefit of the same.
In the end she said that proper awareness campaign in this regard with the activism of the concerned department is the need of the hour so as the needy women could use this service which can save their lives.
