Transporters' delegation apprise BJP Vice President of their problems



Jammu, June 15 (Scoop News)-A delegation of transporters from Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory called on S. Varinderjeet Singh, Vice President of J&K unit of Bharatiya Janata Party and apprised him of the problems being faced by them.
They brought it into the notice of S. Varinderjeet Singh that their survival has become very difficult in these times of COVID-19 pandemic. Their families are at the verge of starvation as their only mean of earning is dependent on transport, which has come to halt due to restrictions on movement of public transport. Their employees too are suffering as none of them is getting regular salary from the employers of transport sector.
They further shared that for the last over one year, holy pilgrimage of Mata Vaishno Devi has remained suspended, the annual yatra of Amarnath too seems to be getting reduced to minimum number of pilgrims with duration of few days, tourist flow in Valley was low last year and during the current year very less people are coming as tourists and the vehicles providing services to the tourists are standing on roads with no one to hire them and added that in such a situation no transporter is in a position to pay bank installment, passenger tax and renew insurance.
Demanding a package for the Transport Sector, which should include financing assistance, exemption of tax and extension of time in renewing of insurance cover, delegation urged upon the BJP leader to help them in their difficult times by raising their voice at the appropriate platform.
S. Varinderjeet Singh assured them of discussing their problems and demands with the party leadership so that the same are intimated to the LG administration and some relief is sought for them.
