| Police solves murder case in Baramulla; 04 accused persons arrested | |
Srinagar, August 04 (Scoop News)- Police in Baramulla have solved a murder case by arresting 04 accused persons involved in the commission of crime.
On 31 July 2021, one lady namely Mst. Fahmeeda Begum wife of Aijaz Ahmad Pandith resident of Khawajabagh lodged a written complaint in PS Baramulla stating their in that her husband namely Aijaz Ahmad Pandith @ Bilal son of Mohd Ismail resident of Khawajabagh went to the banks of river Jhelum for sand extraction alongwith one local namely Firdous Ahmad Ganie of Khawajabagh. However at about 0100hrs mother of Firdous Ganie keen to the house of applicant and informed her that Bilal and Firdous who had crossed river Jhelum to Chakloo side have been attacked by some residents of Chakloo. In the attack Bilal has probably been taken away by the attackers while Firdous managed to escape and reached home.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Baramulla and investigation was taken up.
During the course of investigation, the Firdous Ganie was called for questioning who stated that during the intervening night of 30/31 July, 2021 at about 0000hrs hrs he alongwith Aijaz Ahmad Pandith while extracting sand from river Jhelum near Chakloo were attacked by 04 residents of Chakloo and among them he identified two attackers as Bashir Ahmad Wani son of Ahad Wani and Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh son of Gh Hassan both residents of Chakloo Baramulla. Subsequently the alleged accused persons were arrested on 02/08/2021 who confessed that the deceased namely Aijaz Pandith @ Bilal and the Firdous Ganie used to extracting sand from Chakloo side of river Jhelum and on the fateful night the said accused alongwith Fayaz Ahmad Shah son of Ab Ahad Shah resident of Banyari Hajin Sumbal, District Bandipora and Basit Aziz Payar son of Ab Aziz Payar resident of Chera Koot Sogam, Kupwara laid an ambush near the place of occurrence and when the deceased alongwith survivor Firdous Ahmad started extracting the sand the accused pounced upon the deceased and the survivor and took the deceased with them while as the survivor jumped into the river.
After taking the deceased Aijaz Pandith @ Bilal , one of the attackers namely Mudasir Sheikh hit the deceased on head with an agricultural tool spade (bailcha) and then threw into the river. The weapon of offence stands recovered on the disclosure and identification of accused. The dead body of the deceased was recovered from river Jhelum near Khanpora Bridge on 02/08/2021 after strenuous searches and efforts of Police, SDRF & Marcos.
After fulfilling legal formalities the dead body was handed over to family for last rites. All the involved 04 accused persons have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody. Further investigation into the matter is in progress.
