Workshop on Emerging Technologies held at NIT Srinagar
Our students should be familiar with prevailing technological trends: Prof Sehgal

Srinagar, September 02 (Scoop News)- A workshop on ‘Emerging Technologies’ was organized on Wednesday by Microsoft Student Team in collaboration with Innovation, Incubation, and Entrepreneur Development Centre (IIEDC) and Semicolon Coding Club of National Institute of Technology (NIT ) Srinagar.
The workshop was held in a semi-virtual manner, wherein some participants joined online and some offline at the NIT Srinagar campus.
Eminent speakers from the Industry and Academia including Dr. Veningston K, Mr. Pushpreet Singh Sethi and Dr. Shahid Mehraj Shah made students familiar with the emerging technologies like Cloud, Azure, Github, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Game Theory, Microsoft 365, etc.
Director NIT Srinagar, Prof Rakesh Sehgal said the workshop was aimed to enhance the knowledge of the participants with emerging technologies in the market.
“Our students should be familiar with prevailing technological trends and NIT Srinagar will be organizing such events in the future also,” he said.
Registrar NIT, Prof Kaiser Bukhari appreciated the organizers for organizing a workshop on relevant them and stated that such topics are the need of the hour for all-around development.
Earlier the the inaugural session of the workshop was hosted by Tajamul Ashraf, the Student Learn Ambassador of Microsoft for NIT Srinagar, with a session on ‘Microsoft 365 – Technology on your Tips’ in which he discussed Microsoft 365, its advantages, features, and interface.
It was followed by Mr. Pushpreet Singh Sethi, an Assoc. Design Engineer at Ameriprise Financials, who discussed the emerging Cloud technologies including Microsoft Azure. He familiarized the students on how to use the Azure platform for various purposes.
Dr. Veningston K from the Computer Science and Engineering Department of NIT Srinagar made the audience familiar with the Github Platform, which is a version control system used by corporations and teams across the globe to manage projects. He also gave demos about creating an account and use Git Bash.
Dr. Shahid Mehraj Shah from the Electronics and Communication Engineering Department of the institute presented his speech on the topic ‘Artificial Intelligence meets game theory.
In the workshop students were made familiar with the basic concepts and practices of Machine Learning and the concepts of Game Theory. The event was also live-streamed on the official YouTube channel of NIT Srinagar.
While a formal vote of thanks was presented by Tajamul Ashraf. He thanked resource persons and participants for making the event a grand success.
While organizing team consisted of Basar Qari, Sanna Showkat, Manik Showkat, Fahad Syed, Ubaid bin Gulzar and Mir Faizan. While it was headed by the Microsoft Student Learn Ambassador for NIT Srinagar, Tajamul Ashraf.
