Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: LAACL Kargil, GMDC Zanskar organize Children’' on Spot Music, Painting Competition at Zanskar
Kargil, September 13 (Scoop News)-As a part of the series of programmes held in connection with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav-75 year of India's Independence, Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (LAACL) Kargil in collaboration with Government Model Degree College (GMDC) Zanskar organized On Spot Music and Painting Competition among students of GMDC Zanskar, higher secondary schools high schools in the college campus here today.
Principal GMDC Zanskar Professor Nasir Shabani was the chief guest on the occasion while Principal Government Higher Secondary School Padum Rinchan Wangbo was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal GMDC Zanskar Nassir Shabani while hailing the efforts of LAACL Kargil for having organized by the painting and music competitions among the college and school students said that this step has proved an ideal platform to the budding artists to showcase their hidden talents in the realm of music and painting arts.
In his address, Deputy Secretary LAACL Kargil Nazir Hussain said that the painting and music competitions have been organized with the twin objective to explore the hidden artistic talent of the younger generation besides to inculcate in them consciousness about the local folk music.
Around 30 students from GMDC Zanskar participated in the on-spot music competition while around 50 students participated in the on spot painting competition.
The jury members in case of the on spot competitions comprised of Sonam Dawa, Tundup Namgyal, Stanzin Dudul (Painting),
Tsering Zangpo, Lobzang Samdup and Tsewang Rigzin (Music) while musicians
Stanzin Phunsog, Muhammad Ilyas, Tsering Tundup, Stanzin Laktsok and Muhammad Abbas Skith rendered services as accompaniment to the children who participated in the on spot music competition.
Cultural Expert Tsewang Rigzin conducted the proceedings of the daylong competitions while Special Officer for Cultural Activities Kargil Muhammmad Ali Tak delivered the vote of thanks at the end.

Union Minister of Railways visits Jammu Railway Station
Promises train service to Kashmir before 2024
Jammu,September 13 (Scoop News)-Union Minister of Railways, Communications and Electronics & Information Technology, Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw visited Jammu Railway Station and a Community Service Centre, CSC, in Janipur, Jammu and took stock of the facilities being provided to the public. His visit is part of the public outreach initiative of the Union Government for Jammu & Kashmir.
At CSC, officers from Jammu and Kashmir e-Governance Agency (JaKeGA) briefed the Union minister about the functioning of the department and its role in facilitating people with respect to government’s facilities like Ayushman Bharat PMJAY, e-Shram and other e-governance facilities.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that it is the government’s mission to reach ‘every last person in line’. He shed light on Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyaan under which rural population is being given computer and internet literacy.
Sharing the Prime Minister’s dream of Digital India, Shri Vaishnaw said that the government has achieved a number of landmarks for its fulfillment over the past seven years. He said that systematic surveys are being undertaken to link the remotest regions of the country through mobile and internet connectivity. ‘Universal internet access’ is the goal set by the Prime Minister, he said.
Regarding Jammu-Poonch railway link, the minister assured that work on the same has been expedited and would be completed after addressing viability issues of the area. The Railways minister assured that rail link with Kashmir would be open to the public before 2024.
Earlier, the Minister also inspected Jammu Railway Station and studied the upgradation plan for Jammu and Kathua railway stations. He assured that appropriate steps would be taken to facilitate pilgrims and tourists reaching Jammu and beyond through railways. He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Anshul Garg and senior officers from Indian Railways.




JKPCC launches e-waste Mobile Collection Van, awareness Campaign
Srinagar, September 13 (Scoop News)-The Regional Director J&K Pollution Control Committee, Kashmir, (JKPCC) Rafi Ahmad Bhat today flagged off e-waste Mobile Collection Van (MCV) from Sheikh-ul-Aalam Campus Rajbagh here.
The MCV was flagged off to create awareness among consumers and bulk consumers regarding e-waste which is one of the most serious and fast emerging environmental issues in the present times.
He also kick started an awareness cum collection campaign in collaboration with RLG India which shall facilitate safe collection and transportation of e-waste in a mobile collection van.
The Regional Director PCC appreciated the initiative taken by officials of the Committee and expressed gratitude towards RLG for joining hands with J&K PCC to conduct the awareness drive in an effective manner.
He observed that all electronic and electrical items such as computers, televisions, mobile phones etc. on completion of their useful life are being discarded rapidly and contribute to the huge quantum of e-waste. The generation of this waste (e-waste) has grown manifold in the last two decades and will continue to accelerate at a fast pace. He requested the general public to ensure safe channelization of e-waste.
The flag off ceremony was also attended by senior officers, scientists and other officials of J&K PCC and RLG.
Later J&K PCC and RLG conducted an e-waste awareness drive at Parimpora Fruit Mandi Srinagar with the target group of scrap dealers and unorganised e-waste sector, educating the scrap dealers about the potential health hazardous and risk associated with the unscientific disposal methods of dismantling and handling e-waste.
The scrap dealers were motivated to operate their business within the ambit of e-waste rules and regulations with logistics provided by RLG for safe disposal of e-waste.
