DLSA Jammu organises awareness camp on Child Rights, Rights of Senior Citizens at R S Pura

Jammu, October 13 (Scoop News)- District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Jammu today organised a mega awareness Camp on Child Rights and Rights of Senior Citizens here at R.S.Pura in collaboration with the District Red Cross Society.
The Programme hosted in connection with the Pan India Awareness and Outreach Campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, aimed to raise awareness about the issues related to Senior Citizens & Child Rights and the problems faced by them.
Mr Justice Ali Mohammad Magray, judge of High Court of UT of J&K and Ladakh and Executive Chairman J&K Legal Service Authority was the Chief Guest.
While addressing the gathering, Justice Magray said that the objective of such camps was to make people aware about their entitlements and procedural aspects regarding services of various departments and also connect them with the welfare schemes.
“We are reaching out to all the far flung areas of Jammu and Kashmir Specially border areas for awareness programs because border people face multiple problems and issues and JKLSA works to resolve the same and also protect their rights as per the constitution of India. Similarly we work for protecting the children from social evils and provide them an environment for education, physical and mental growth” Justice Magray elaborated.
He said that the Legal Services Authority works for ensuring that the rights and facilities provided by the Constitution of India are implemented on the ground level and the Schemes of GoI and UT Government benefit all the needy people.
Regarding Free Education for all Children, he said it was the responsibility of the village Mukhiya (Sarpanch) to educate and encourage parents to send their children to school because they are the future of society.
During the camp, three Tri Scooties, Five Wheelchairs, Five tricycles, five Hearing Aids, Ration kits and Games Kits were distributed among the beneficiaries under various schemes. A plantation drive was also conducted during the camp.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Anshul Garg welcomed the Chief Guest and briefed the gathering about various schemes run by district administration for welfare of the people. He said that during the Covid Lockdown maximum eligible senior citizens were provided the old age pension at their doorsteps. He said for creating employment avenues, Jammu administration has established 9 youth Mission centers in the district to impart training to youth. "Presently 650 youth are being prepared for cracking the tests of army services and para medical courses, he added.
The Vote of thanks was presented by Secretary DLSA, Yahiya Firdous.
Director Social Welfare Jammu, Vivek Sharma; SSP Jammu, Chandan Kohli; Chairman Municipal Committee, R S Pura Sat Pal Pappy; SDM RS Pura, Ram Lal Sharma and other concerned Officers and Officials were present during the camp.
