| Police arrests 04 drug peddlers in Shopian | | Huge quantity of contraband substances recovered |
Srinagar, October 14 (Scoop News)- Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Shopian and recovered huge quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
Police Station Zainapora received a specific information that two person namely Abdul Hameed Sheikh son of Gh Mohammad Sheikh and Bilal Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohammad Shaban Sheikh both residents of Chillipora have indulged in drug peddling and have hoarded a huge quantity of narcotic substance in their residential houses.
On receipt of this information, a Police party of PS Zainapora alongwith Executive Magistrate raided the specific locations. During search, officers were able to recover 189Kg’s of Charas grinded leaves, 1.5Kg of Charas Powder and 30Kgs of Poppy Straw from the said residential houses. Regarding the incident 04 accused persons have been arrested so far. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 126/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Zainapora and further investigations have been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace
