Secretary, Tourism & Culture reviews preparation for Iconic Week celebration under the theme Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav


Leh, October 18 (Scoop News)- Secretary, Tourism & Culture, UT Ladakh, Kachoo Mehboob Ali Khan, today, convened a meeting to take stock of the iconic week celebration under the theme Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav in Ladakh.

The weeklong event is being organized at different locations of districts Leh and Kargil of UT Ladakh from 25th – 31st of October.

To make the event grand and successful, Secretary, K. Mehboob Ali Khan directed the Deputy Commissioners of Leh & Kargil to form district as well as sub-divisional level committees to organize programmes at their level which would highlight the freedom struggle, achievements of the last two years in particular of UT Administration and last 75 years in general and envisaged future schemes/programmes. Secretary, Tourism & Culture directed to organize exhibitions, competitions, and cultural programmes for the same. He also directed DS, Cultural Academy, Leh & Kargil to mobilize cultural troupes for the event at various locations.

Further, to mark the celebration, he asked the Deputy Commissioner Leh to ensure illumination of Leh palace and other prominent Government buildings in Leh on 31st October, which is the foundation day of the UT. Deputy Commissioner, Kargil was asked to do the same in Kargil District.

For Sub-Divisional Level events, the respective Sub-Divisional Committees headed by SDMs will be in charge for the arrangement of various events. The Iconic Week celebration will kick start from Khaltse on October 25th. This will be followed by functions at Garkone Village (Aryan Valley of Kargil District) on October 26th, Diskit (Nubra) on October 27th, Padum (Zanskar) on October 28th, Nyoma (Nyoma sub-division) on October 29th, Sankoo (Kargil) on the October 30th. The concluding celebration will be held at Leh and Kargil on October 31st (the foundation day of UT Ladakh).

Documentation and recording of the entire iconic event would be done by Information Departments of Leh and Kargil districts respectively. The same has to be sent to the concerned Ministry, Government of India.
