Manjit Singh urges GoI to accept pending demands of farmers
Says development comes to standstill in J&K without elected Govt
Vijaypur ,November 23 (Scoop News)-Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, and Former Minister, Manjit Singh has urged Govt of India to accept the pending issues of farmers including fixing of MSP so that the one year long struggle can be concluded peacefully without further lingering the issue for months.
Addressing people at Randhawa Colony, Ward Number 04, Vijaypur (Samba), Manjit Singh said that the Govt of India’s decision to withdraw three controversial farm laws was a welcome step.
However, silence for long on other demands of farmers and compensation should also be given to the families of farmers who lost their lives during the peaceful demonstration in Delhi and other areas, he said.
He further said that the farmers of the country from various states have gathered in Delhi and it is imperative for the Govt not to force the farmers to stretch the struggle.
“If the Govt is serious, they should accept their other pending demands of the farmers like fixing of MSP, compensation to the families whose loved ones have died in the struggle, and other demands. The agriculture sector is a backbone of the country and it should be protected by keeping it away from the corporate sectors, and big business houses,” he said.
He said that it is responsibility of the Govt of India to consider the demands and take a non- political and humanitarian look at the sufferings of the farmers.
Meanwhile, he also expressed serious concern over the snail pace of developmental projects.
He said that the development has almost come to a standstill in absence of an elected Govt. “The officials are not held responsible for their poor and delay in developmental projects. The Govt must hold officials responsible if the development is delayed but it is not happening from the last three years,” he said.
He said that without an elected Govt, the development is not possible and alienation of the people can be ended with the holding of elections.
“Statehood to J&K must be restored before holding assembly polls to restore the lost confidence of the people. People in both the regions of J&K have similar demands and sufferings which should be addressed immediately,” he said.
Besides, he assured the locals that their problems will be highlighted before the concerned authorities for their early redressal.
The meeting was attended by Sarpanch Ex-Capt Joginder Lal, Panch Ward No 4 Rakesh Kumar, Ward No 2 Panch Babli Devi, Ward No 3 Panch, Panch Sher Singh, and others.
