Sports essential to ensure healthy body and mind: Yudhvir

Jammu, November 24 (Scoop News)-Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader and Party Vice President, Yudhvir Sethi has asserted that participation in sports ensures healthy body and mind besides keeping the youth away from drugs.
He stated this after inaugurating the Christmas Gold Cup T-20 tournament during an impressive function at the Maulana Azad Stadium in presence of Corporator Anil and a large number of people especially sports lovers here today.
This cricket tourney has been organized by All J&K Sports and Cultural Welfare Association in which Yudhvir Sethi was the Chief Guest while Corporator Anil Masoom was the Guest of Honour for today. Besides, Sharad Kalu, DySP, Sampaul Inspector, Pastor Lovey Sobey, Pastor Stanious, Vijay Kumar, Amit Sotra, Peter Sandhu and Rajesh Sumbanye were the Special Guests. Yosuf Don, David, Sebastian, Maktod and Martin were the Oragnizers.
In his address, Yudhvir Sethi congratulated the participating teams as well as the organizers and wished them a great performance during the five day tournament.
Senior BJP leader said that Christmas Gold Cup Tournament is held as part of the great festivity of Christmas celebrations and people participate as players as well as spectators irrespective of caste creed or colour come together to gloss to the festivity. He said that the tournament strengthens the cultural bonds between communities and conveys a message of maintaining communal harmony among communities in ensuring peace and prosperity of the society. He said that while last year football matches were played during the tournament, this year T-20 cricket matches are being held during this tourney and the winner of the tournament shall be awarded trophy.
Moreover, the tournament sharpens the physique of the players besides keeping youth away from social evils especially the drug menace, Sethi said and appealed to the youth to make sports inseparable part of their routine in order to ensure healthy body and mind and stay away from drugs which eat into the vitals of social fabrique.
Among others who were present include Vipan Sharma, Parveen Kerni, Asif Gill, Ajeet Yogi, Brij Lal Verma, Vishwa Partap Singh, Sanjay Kohli, Vinod Dogra and Rubina Akhtar.
