Pandit Kashyap Bandhu , the tallest community leader of his time departed to proceed on his eternal journey this day ,the 18th of december 1985.
Now, was the need for such dynamic leadership for the community when people responsible for their plight and flight from their homes and hearts are claiming to be the Massaiha.
Had Bandhhuji been alive, the present generation would have surely asked as to what were the,gains for the community by his embracing the shiekh and enablingMuslim confrence to become national confrence in 1938.
In 1950, the ancestral properties of the Pandits in the shape of land and orchards was away wiuthout any compensation.
In 1960, the government jobs were denied to him on the basis of merit, even the social security of the Pandit women was attacked to ensure degradation of their self respect . the mass agitation too was handled in such a way to make the pandit feel totally helpless.
During 1970,the agriculture lands available weith the community were also ordeed to be shared with the Kastkar making the Pandit almost landless. He was forced to move out of the valley to look for jobs to make vacancy for the Muslim.
In 1980s, his life itself was threatened . not only were the temples torched,but the Pandit homes were also set on fire with people within. This was done while political chess was being played on the kashmir convass.
In 1990, the whole pandit populace was made to flee for their life. The ones who did not were massacred. Who can ever forget Wandhhama, Nadimarg, Shankepora and many more.
And now,Farrooq Ahemed Sheikh the Sahib Zada of the tall Mohmad Abdulla Shiekh is asking the Pandit youth as to why they are incling towards Jammu political set up. Afsoos-sad-afsoos Frooq Ji on your political segacity. You left the valley and the country itself to go to London when youwere needed the most by the people who had invested in you and the national confrence . Now, you dare to speak such words.
Pandit Kashyap Bandhu ji- it is good that you are not around to see your community –a political orphan, a rootless body devoid of any hope for a better tomorrow. Certainly you must be shedding tears on seeing this hapless community whom you had entrusted into the good faith of the National Confrence.
