I would like to express my deep concern regarding the decreasing value of teaching community in the eyes of students in particular and their parents and general public in general through the medium of your esteemed daily newspaper.There are people in our life who have taught us the value of good and the path of evil. They help us solve the little problems that we tend to face in life. They teach us not to fuss about the things that are not in our control. They make us believe in the impossible. And they are none other than our teachers. In many countries, teachers are considered as our second parents because they spend a considerable amount of time helping us learn and grow. But in return, they are neither acknowledged nor appreciated for their efforts and hard work. Yet they continue to strive hard with little to no pay, barely being able to afford basic necessities for their families.In India in general and particularly in the Union Territory of Jammu-Kashmir , the level of respect that teachers had has significantly decreased over time in the eye of parents, students ,general public and above all . We have forgotten to thank them for their services, for becoming our biggest source of inspiration, for helping us learn and cope with new life experiences, and for teaching us about values and ethics.Last but not least therefore, I urge all students and rheir parents to thank their teachers the next time they meet them. Those that have already graduated must take time out to call or message their school teachers for it is them who now need the inspiration to continue teaching in such difficult times.
