PHASE–II of Health Outreach Programmes held by IUST

Awantipora, January 13 (Scoop News)-Continuing with its Institutional Social Responsibility (ISR), the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora conducted its "PHASE –II outreach Programmes" at Aram Mohalla and Dobi Mohalla Mattan Anantnag in which more than 300 students and women participated.
The awareness camp on ‘Vaccination and general sanitation’ was organised by Syed Mantaqui Memorial College of Nursing and Medical Technology (SMMCNMT), IUST in collaboration with the ASHA, Anganwadi workers, village heads and Principal of the government higher secondary school Mattan Anantnag.

“During this campaign, focus was on generating awareness regarding Vaccination against the Covid -19, clinical features and Do’s & Don’ts for the prevention of Covid-19 and also carried out the Deworming campaign with the participating population,” Principal SMMCNMT Ms. Asmat Parveen said.

Simultaneously an intensive door to door survey was also conducted based on the parameters of gender, educational and economic status in which non-vaccinated population was identified and provided awareness regarding vaccine and were referred to Urban Health Training Centre Mattan for vaccination.
“11.12% from the survey respondents were diagnosed with Hypertension and 5.92% with Anaemia problems,” official statement read.

IUST's survey team also emphasized that the existing environmental problems in this area like improper waste disposal, Water pollution and Open drainage system should be addressed immediately for better sanitation and health care.

Meanwhile awareness regarding SOP’s to be followed for the prevention of Covid-19 was also carried out for the higher secondary students from Mattan, who also participated in different health related activities. These activities focused on Health Assessment and Mass-deworming about maintenance of personal hygiene, identification of any chronic disease and making proper referrals.
