2-Days training programme for MOs to make PCCCs functional commences at IHM, Rajbagh

Srinagar ,January 14 (Scoop News)- To strengthen Covid-19 containment measures at primary level in villages and to mitigate the pressure on secondary and tertiary care health institutions amid spike in fresh Covid-19 positive cases, the two days training programme for Medical Officers (MOs) of all the districts commenced today at Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Rajbagh, here.
The Divisional Covid-19 Control Room Kashmir (DCCRK) has organised the training programme with an aim to sensitize Medical Officers of all districts regarding the treatment and management of Covid patients who have a mild disease at Panchayat Covid Care Centres (PCCCs) established during the 1st and 2nd waves.
The training programme was presided over by Dr Talat Jabeen Epidemiologist, SSO Kashmir while the resource persons on the occasion were Community Medicine Specialists at DCCRK, Dr Rouf Hussain Rather and Dr Umar Nazir.
In her inaugural speech, Dr Talat recapitulated the role played by Panchayat Covid Care Centers during the first two waves where patients with mild symptoms were admitted and treated by the designated medical teams.
She said that PCCCs were established at every Panchayat that reduced pressure on patients in Sub district, district hospitals and tertiary care hospitals. She said PCCCs facilitated isolation of covid patients with every requirement from treatment to the proper referral to these patients.
Dr Umar in his presentation highlighted the need to make these PCCCs functional once again and also described the augmentation of the medical and paramedical staff besides making these Medics as master trainers so that they can train Paramedics, PRIs, Teachers, NGOs and Social Workers to make those centers functional without wasting much time.
He stressed on the identification of patients with mild infection who shall be admitted at those centers besides he stressed on making all the previous logistics functional so the third covid wave could be contained successfully.
In the 2nd presentation, Dr. Rouf highlighted the importance of CAB & Vaccination and also threw light on the evolving situation of Covid-19 globally, national and at divisional level.
Later, a question answer session was held during which the participants asked questions regarding the third wave, severity, its impact on health and immune system, its treatment and SOPs which were answered by Resource persons to the best satisfaction of the participants.
