Raids continue; Charas Worth ₹18 Lacs Recovered
Drug Proceeds & Cash Recovery amount to ₹32 Lacs: Reasi Police


Jammu, January 15 (Scoop News)- ‘Ek YUDH NASHE KE VIRUDH’-In the war against Drugs Abuse, Reasi Police achieved a major success, interrogated the arrested accused & recovered Charas of market worth ₹17 lakh on the disclosure in Kakriyal Katra.

On 9th of January Bashir Ahmed S/O Mohd Sharief R/O Chak Bhagta tehsil Katra was arrested and police recovered crime proceeds of drug money ₹14.35 Lakh alongwith 26 challies of Charas from his possession. In this regard case FIR no 07/2022 U/S 8, 20, 25 NDPS Act Police Station Katra was registered against him & investigations initiated.

During further course of investigations, accused Bashir Ahmed was put under sustained questioning by officers during which he Confessed that he had hidden more packets of charas at his residence in fodder for cattle. On this Reasi Police constituted special team headed by senior Police Officer who raided & made searches at suspected places including the house of accused Bashir, in the presence of Executive Magistrate (Naib Tehsildar). The police team recovered charas weighing 5.97 Kg, price in the (illegal drug) market of which is ₹ 18 Lakh.

Further investigation into financial transactions in the illegal trade in the case is being explored to unweave the illegal network of drug peddling by the accused & his associates.

Bashir is a notorious drug peddler, earlier remained involved in drug peddling case FIR no 22/2020 U/S 8, 20, 29 NDPS Act Police station Reasi and facing trial in the case.

Sh Shailender Singh Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi terming the recovey as a big success of his team and giving the details of the case conveyed that In the case till now Reasi Police seized 376 Challies of Charas weighing about 6.4 kg of Worth of ₹ 18 Lacs & drug proceeds, cash of ₹ 14 35 Lacs.

Mr Singh is monitoring the progress & reviewing the case on day to day basis by crime meeting in the evening. He expressed that accused is still being put to sustained questioning, more recoveries in the case cannot be ruled out and those who are involved in illegal distribution networks and backward linkages of source of supply of banned drug shall also be booked in the case by exploring all possible evidences.

SSP appealed that people from all the sections of the society should come forward and join hands in fight against drug abuse to save our future generations.
