DHSK visits Ganderbal, inspects ongoing Mega Health Camps On second day

Srinagar, May 12 (Scoop News)-Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather today visited Ganderbal to inspect the ongoing Mega Health Camps and on the second consecutive day, a total of 247 surgeries were conducted in four hospitals in Kashmir.
Rotary international districts 3131, 3132, 3060, 3070, are jointly conducting the Mega Health Camp with DHSK from 11 May. This camp was conceived by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir along with Dr Rajeev Pradhan, District Governors of all the four districts and Rotary Club of Kashmir and Srinagar.
Rotary International has already donated oxygen concentrators to Jammu and Kashmir during Covid-19 with active support of Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta and Rtn Vivek Tankha and Riyary family under the initiative Welcome Zindagi.
Rotary plans to have many such activities in future also within Jammu and Kashmir and all the doctors who have come in this camp from different states of the country are providing service free of cost and along with Rotary serving humanity.
At Ganderbal, the director while interacting with patients and staff said that Mega Health Camps is a great initiative of the Government of India during which people across the valley will be benefitted.
“The initiative will go a long way to lessen burden on hospitals as patients had to wait for long time to get operated. This will help to decongest the tertiary care hospitals,” he said.
The Mega Health Camp spreads across three districts and would record more than 3,000 (three thousand) surgeries of different specialities which is record so far.
Dr MA Rather said patients from Ganderbal, Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara and Budgam have been registered for the medical camp and shall be operated to make it successful.
On the second day, a total of 247 surgeries were conducted in four hospitals across Kashmir which includes SDH Sopore (82), GMC Baramulla (44), DH Ganderbal (69) and SDH Kupwara (52).
These total figures include 51 related to obstetrics and gynaecology, 26 general surgeries, 94 ophthalmology, 06 orthopaedics, 13 ENT surgeries, 11 minor surgeries and 46 dental surgeries.
The surgeries are being conducted at four locations including GMC Baramulla, SDH Sopore, District Hospital Kupwara and District Hospital Ganderbal for nine days from May 11 to May 19. Meanwhile, operation theatres and bed capacity of theatres have been augmented to cater to more patients.
