Kashmiri Pandit employee shot dead by terrorists inside Govt office in Budgam
LG and others politicians condemn attack

Srinagar, May 12 (Scoop News)-Kashmiri Pandit government employee working in Tehsil office Chadoora in Kashmir’s Budgam district was shot dead inside the office premises on Thursday..

Senior police officers along with reinforcement reached at the terror crime spot.
Police spokesman said that at about 1645hrs, police received information about a terror crime incident at Tehsil office Chadoora area of district Budgam where terrorists had fired upon an employee identified as Shri Rahul Bhat son of Bita Ji Bhat resident of Sangrampora Beerwah (A/P Pandit Colony Sheikhpora Budgam) belonging to Minority Community. In this terror crime incident he had received critical gunshot injuries and was evacuated to SMHS hospital, Srinagar for the treatment of his injuries however, he succumbed to his injuries. The deceased is survived by his wife Smt Meenakshi who is a house wife, 05 years old daughter Gungun Bhat, mother Smt Usha Bhat (house wife) and father Bita Ji Bhat a retired sub-Inspector of Police.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that two terrorists are involved in this heinous terror crime and have used pistol for committing this crime.



Police has registered a case under relevant sections of law and initiated investigation. Officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of the terror crime while the whole area has been cordoned off with the help of reinforcement and search in the area is going on.


LG and others politicians condemn attack


The incident evoked wide-spread condemnations from all quarters. Jammu and Kashmir’s Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha tweeted: “I strongly condemn the barbaric killing of Rahul Bhat by militants at Budgam. Those behind this despicable terror attack will not go unpunished. J&K government stands in solidarity with the bereaved family in this hour of grief.”


In a press release, National Conference President and MP from Srinagar Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah have condemned the brutal killing of Kashmiri Pandit Rahul Bhat in Budgam.
In his condemnation, Dr Farooq said: "I unequivocally condemn the dastardly attack on Rahul Bhatt. The sole purpose of such dastardly and heinous acts is to vitiate the atmosphere of Kashmir. I condemn the killing in the strongest possible terms. My heartfelt condolences to Rahul’s family,” he said.

Condemning the incident, Omar said: “I unequivocally condemn the murderous attack on Rahul Bhatt. Rahul was a government employee working in the Tehsil office in Chadoora where he was attacked. Targeted killings continue & a sense of fear grows unchecked. My heartfelt condolences to Rahul’s family,” he said.
Apni Party President Syed Muhammed Altaf Bukhari has also strongly condemned the attack.
While strongly condemning the attack, Bukhari said that it is very tragic to see this senseless bloodshed of innocents. “Our fellow Kashmiris are suffering due to acts of violence and there seems to be no end to this madness,” he said. Such targeted killings of members of minority community is reprehensible and the people of Kashmir won’t accept this bloodshed.


The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) tweeted, “We unequivocally condemn the killing of Rahul Bhat ji, who was working as an employee in revenue dept Budgam. Despite deployment of security forces in every nook & corner of the valley, even govt offices aren’t safe. Our thoughts, prayers are with the family in this hour of grief.”
BJP spokesman Altaf Thakur strongly denounced the “cowardly act by terrorists”.
“The attackers must be brought to justice,” he added.
The Congress, while condemning the killing, said the perpetrators of such heinous crimes should know that they cannot achieve anything by such inhuman acts.
The Peoples Conference led by Sajad Lone also condemned the killing and extended sympathies and unwavering support to the family of the victim.
