| 1965 batch topper, Er. Luthra holds interactive sessions with NIT Students | | Alumni are ambassadors of any education institution: Prof. Sehgal |
Srinagar, May 14 (Scoop News)-The first topper of 1960-1965's Mechanical Engineering Department batch of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, Er. D. Paul Luthra on Saturday concluded his series of interactive sessions with students.
Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.), Rakesh Sehgal, Dean AIA Prof. Mohammad Shafi Mir, and Heads of various departments of the Institute facilitated Er. Luthra. He was presented with mementos.
On the occasion, Prof. Sehgal stated that alumni are ambassadors of any educational institution and NIT Srinagar will continue to have a special bond with its alumni.
“There is competition everywhere and each year over 17-18 lakh students complete their engineering degrees. Hard work and dedication are keys to success,” he said.
Prof. Sehgal expressed his gratitude to Er. Luthra for showing immense love, attachment for NIT Srinagar, and coming all the way from the USA to interact with students.
=Director NIT Srinagar hoped that this would encourage other senior alumni as well to engage with the institute in a number of ways. He stressed the importance of the engagement of our alumni with their alma mater.
In his message, Institute’s Registrar, Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari said alumni are both pride as well as a resource for any institution. Having a supportive and engaging alumna forms a huge support system, he said.
Prof. Bukhari also thanked Er. Paul Luthra for visiting the campus. He hoped that such interactions would go a long way in shaping the minds of our students and in making them better engineers, and human beings.
On the occasion, Dean Alumni and International Affairs, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Shafi Mir said there has to be a sustained communication system between the alumni and institution. Good alumni relationships bring many benefits to both the institution and the alumni, he said.
“A strong institute-alumni bond, not only allows institutes to benefit from the skills and experience of pass-out graduates by offering their support to the current students and to the institution but also benefits the alumni in various ways,” he said.
Prof. Mir also thanked Er. Luthra for lively interaction sessions with the students. He assured to organize frequent sessions of interactions and lectures involving alumni.
“I hope that our alumni will come forward in big numbers for such and other engagements with the institute. Many of our alumni have been very passionate about helping NIT Srinagar due to their immense love, affection, and loyalty towards their Alma Mater.
He said Er. Paul Luthra, who is a topper of the first Mechanical Engineering batch of NIT Srinagar (1960-65) came all the way from the United States of America (USA) to visit the institute and interact with current students in order to share his life-long experience.
He said the Alumni & International Cell of NIT Srinagar organized four interaction sessions of UG/PG students with Er. Luthra. The first interaction session was conducted with students of Civil and Chemical Engineering departments.
It was followed by interactive sessions with Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgical and Materials Engineering departments. The third session was conducted with the Electrical Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering departments.
The fourth and last interaction session was conducted with students of the Information Technology and Computer Science & Engineering departments.
