DDC Rajouri discusses modalities for implementation of Amrit Sarovar Mission
Rajouri, May 14 (Scoop News)-District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal today discussed the modalities for implementation of Mission Amrit Sarovar in the district, here in a meeting of the concerned officers.
Officers who attended the meeting included ADDC, Pawan Kumar; DFO Rajouri, Arshdeep Singh; DSCO, Rashid Manhas; ACD, Vijay Kumar; CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; Tehsildars and BDOs.
Pertinently, Amrit Sarovar Mission is aimed at developing and rejuvenating 75 water bodies in each district of the country as a part of the celebration of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.’ In total, it would lead to the creation of 50,000 water bodies of a size of about an acre or more.
While underlining the objective of the Mission, the DDC appraised that initiative has been taken with the sole aim to conserve water.
He also said that under the mission, 75 water ponds of the district would be rejuvenated and designated as Amrit Sarovars.
The DFO submitted a list of 75 ponds which can be developed as Amrit Sarovar in the district. The DDC directed the BDOs to visit the sites designated by the DFO and submit a report at the earliest.
Highlighting the importance of community participation in making the mission fruitful in the district, the DDC asked the officers to take local people on board in the process of conservation of water bodies.
Taking stock of the restoration work on water bodies as per the directions of NGT, it was informed that 74 water bodies have been identified for renovation after due approval from Gramsabhas.
Meanwhile, the DDC also reviewed the implementation of the Forest Rights Act. He asked the concerned officers to put in dedicated efforts to benefit the eligible people.
