Wushu is the chinese word for all forms of traditional Chinese Martial Arts. The word Wushu means the 'Art of not fighting.' The true meaning behind the real Martial Arts.
A Chinese wushu martial arts empowering boys and girls in the Kashmir Valley to chase their love for sports. Wushu is a sport that is originated from traditional Chinese martial arts. It was created in China after 1949. Wushu has become an international sport through the International Wushu Federation (IWUF).

Most martial arts have to do with the mind, ultimately .The ability to be unafraid, to walk away from a fight without fear- that is control.

17 years ago, this Kashmiri boy didn’t know whereabouts of wushu and had never even seen a wushu player before . But today, he is the international wushu player and senior wushu national medalist of Jammu and Kashmir, he has coached hundreds of school going kids, and has dreams of playing for Indian wushu team as he played before.

Umar bhat (26) professional civil engineering graduate from Jammu and Kashmir, discovered wushu when he was 7-years-old, and since then there has been no looking back. For someone so young, he is fearless, passionate and determined. He is a shining example of how when young boys are empowered and given freedom of choice, they can surmount any challenge. Umar has also leveraged the power of social media to ensure that her efforts and talent don’t go unnoticed.

When wushu was first introduced in his area budgam through a local club namely "Bruce Lee's Institute of martial arts", he was very much happy to play. According to Umar “I had no idea about this sport, its rules and how it’s played, However after a week of playing wushu, i realised that i was going to enjoy this art of martial art."
After gaining the skills and experience of Wushu Sports, Umar did not look back. Umar has won lot of medals at the state level, national level, and international level . In 2018 he was selected for International Moscow Wushu Stars championship at Moscow Russia and recently he also participated in senior national wushu championship and won a bronze medal for the state of jammu and kashmir.

The promotion of wushu has undoubtedly changed the lives of young boys and girls like umar for the better. I want to learn more. I believe there is a lot of scope and talent in Kashmir. According to Umar "I have been coaching for the past 17 years and started to reach schools, for activities of wushu sports. I believe we Kashmiris have good talent in all sports and activities, and we just need to believe in ourselves and work hard for better outcomes.
Apart from other fields the boys and girls should feel free in joining the sports of their choices as well, even they can also earn their name and livilihood in the art of sports as well, lot of courses also available for sports lovers in this regard.

the young talented youth also running a wushu martial arts club, where he is training a team of young boys and preparing them for state and national level competitions. Umar not just play for himself but also empower others so that they too make a name for themselves in this sport. He feel proud that among them some boys played at the State and National level competitions too.

Support is crucial for success For any sportsperson, and for sports to thrive, the access to resources is pertinent. Earlier, the wushu players didn’t have the ground, which meant they could not practice for more than a month before big events. But now, the area has the wushu now. The Jammu Kashmir Sports Council and the Jammu Kashmir wushu Association have not only helped by providing a ground and promoting the game, but they have been very supportive. “They support us every time,” says umar. Having an exclusive ground has made a huge difference, as all the wushu players now have a pro players.

Stay away from those people who try to disparage your ambitions.Small minds will always do that, but great minds will give you a feeling that you can become great too.
The hardest skill to acquire in this sport is the one where you compete all out, give it all you have, and you are still getting beat no matter what you do. When you have the killer instinct to fight through that, it is very special. However, as in any game, all days are not the same and sometimes you have to face failure.

Umar is also a social activist he alone saved thousands of lives in September 2014, when the Kashmir region suffered disastrous floods across many of its districts caused by torrential rainfall ,now recently he help the people's of bihar and UP stucked in srinagar due to recent lockdown, he have NGO and no government support.

The main aim of this sports person is to represent the country as he represented before .Umar doing workout very hard for the upcoming events. We wish him best of luck..

Champions Aren't made in Gyms.Champions are made from something they have deep inside them- A Desire, A dream, A Vision. They have to have the skill ,and the will .But the will must be stronger than the skill.
