3-Day Hasthshilp Rakhi Mela cum awareness camp inaugurated at Handicrafts Showroom Janipur

Jammu, August 08 (Scoop News)- The Department of Handicrafts and Handloom, Jammu District on Monday organized a 3-day Hasthshilp Rakhi Mela cum Awareness camp here at Handicrafts Showroom, Janipur to provide Artisans of Jammu District a platform to exhibit/ sell their products specially prepared for the Festival of Rakshabandhan.
The Mela hosted under the Guidance Additional Chief Secretary, Industries and Commerce, Vivek Bhardwaj, would continue till August 10, 2022.
The Chief Guest Dr. Vikas Gupta, Director Handicrafts and Handloom, Jammu inaugurated the event in presence of Fareed Ahmed Kohli, Deputy Director Administration, Megha Baogia, Deputy Director Planning and Assistant Director Handicrafts, Jammu, Sonika Parihar.
A number of Artisans from across Jammu District are participating in the event to showcase/ sell their handmade products.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Vikas Gupta highlighted the handholding being offered to the artisans by the department to make their products market competitive and earn good returns. “A number of Artisans/weavers and Cooperatives registered with the Department have become self reliant by availing the schemes of the Department” he said. The officer laid emphasis on boarding the products of the Artisans on e-commerce platforms to enable them to get access to national and international markets. He urged the Artisans present to liaison with the department to get themselves registered on e-commerce platforms.
Deputy Director Administration, Fareed Ahmed Kohli laid emphasis on maintaining close coordination between the Artisans and the department to give a new lease of life to the crafts of Jammu Division.
Deputy Director Planning, Megha Baogia, also spoke on the occasion and explained benefits of different schemes of the Department.
Earlier, Assistant Director Handicrafts, Jammu Sonika Parihar, highlighted the huge potential of handmade products with attractive designs and high quality of craftsmanship.
Later, the Chief Guest gave away Appreciation Certificates to Artisans, Diploma Certificates to the trainees and Registration Certificates to the newly registered Cooperative Societies. The program was concluded with vote of thanks.
The HTOs, AHTOs and other officials of the Department were also present.
