GDC Pampore organises friendly cricket match to promote ‘Say Yes to Sports & No to Drugs’
Pulwama, September 22 (Scoop News)-The Department of Physical Education, Government Degree College (GDC), Pampore today organised a friendly cricket match under ‘Say Yes to Sports and No to Drugs’ as part of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’ in the college playground.
The match was played between the staff and students. The toss was conducted between the two captains – Prof Shah Lateef for Staff and Obaid Ahmad for students and staff after winning the toss elected to bat first.
Inaugurating the event, Prof Hilal Bakshi, the Vice Principal of the College detailed the objectives of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abiyaan’, and the role of sports in promoting a healthy life style.
The openers started belligerently smacking 16 off the first over. However, the students soon pulled things back with regular strikes as the team was shot out for 76 in 12.3 overs. In reply the students cruised merrily to chase down the target in 13.5 overs even as Prof Ajaz and Dr Amin bowled hostilely to claim 2 and 3 wickets respectively.
