2nd Bi-Annual Meeting of TOLIC held at CSIR–IIIM, Jammu


Jammu,November 22(Scoop News)-The second bi-annual meeting of ‘Town Official Language Implementation Committee (TOLIC)’ was held at the chairman’s office CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Canal Road, Jammu on 21st November, 2022. The meeting was Chaired by Shri Abdul Rahim, Acting Director (CSIR-IIIM) & Chairman, TOLIC-Jammu. Gracing the occasion was Shri Kumar Pal Sharma, Deputy Director, Northern Regional Implementation Office, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Official Language, Delhi. Among other dignitaries who were also present at the meeting were Shri Rakesh Sethi, Police Deputy Inspector General, Jammu Sector, Central Reserve Police Force, Bantalab, Jammu; Dr. D. Manjunath, Deputy Commissioner, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Jammu; Shri Baldev Raaj, Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Northern Railways, Jammu Tawi; and Shri Rajesh Gupta, Administrative Officer, CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu. The meeting was coordinated by Shri Sanjay Sharma, Member Secretary, TOLIC-Jammu.
Heads of Offices, Senior Officials, Hindi officers and other employees of various member offices/institutes of the Central Government located in Jammu city attended in the meeting. The quarterly reports of all the member offices were reviewed for both the quarters of June and September, 2022 and during open discussion many important issues and difficulties related to implementation of official language were highlighted and their mutual solutions were presented.
Expressing his views in the meeting, Shri Kumar Pal Sharma said that it is necessary to adopt the official language Hindi as a simple language so that all the employees and officers can work in Hindi and perform their work in Hindi. The officers/employees who face difficulty in adopting Hindi should take advantage of the free training programs being run by the Department of Official Language. Shri Kumar Pal Sharma emphasized on a shift of mind set to adopt the changes. He explained in detail about the various provisions and correspondence of the Official Language Act and said that the platform of TOLIC should be used as a powerful medium to promote the promotion/diffusion of the official language Hindi.
Shri Abdul Rahim, Chairman, TOLIC emphasized on improving the implementation of official language by adopting all the suggestions, inviting quality material for publication of TOLIC magazine “Gyaanvarta” and contributing annual contribution by the member offices. He said that many Hindi books are available in the library of Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine. The officers/employees of the member's office who are fond of reading books are welcome to visit and avail the library facility. He further said that Shri Sanjay Sharma, Member-Secretary, who is also in-charge of this library will cooperate in this regard.
In the last phase of the meeting, a prize distribution ceremony was also organized in which the best performing member offices and officers & employees in works related to official language Hindi were honoured by giving shields and certificates. At the end of the program, Shri Rajesh Gupta, Administrative Officer, CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu concluded the meeting by presenting a vote of thanks and expressing his heartfelt gratitude to all the delegates.
