NCDC observes National Girl Child Day


Srinagar, January 23 (Scoop News)-National Girl Child Day was observed by the Core committee of National Child Development Council (NCDC) on Monday.

The core committee members remembered that this day is marked every year to raise awareness to promote the rights, education, health, and nutrition of the girl child across the country.

Dr Sruthi Ganesh, NCDC Program Coordintor, stated that the government of India has made immense efforts over the years to support and improve the conditions of girl child.

She said that, they have started several campaigns and programmes including the Save the Girl Child, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana CBSE Udaan Scheme, Free or subsidized education for girl child, Reservation for women in colleges and universities and National Scheme of Incentive to Girls for Secondary Education."

Muhammed Risvan, NCDC Administrator, opined that all these activities to support girl children has to be monitored for reaching all, including the children in rural areas.

Sudha Menon (NCDC Faculty) said that every girl in the nation should be identified as an equal member of her family, her community and her country.

She said that, "With the increase in number of women forming the workforce in the country, it is essential for them to be healthy, secure and educated."

Baba Alexander, NCDC Master Trainer, suggested that in order to reduce inequality and psychological gap between boys and girls, the age of reducing the psychological gap between boys and girls, the legal age of marriage should be made as 21 for both the genders.

Bindu Saraswathibhai, NCDC Faculty, concluded that we as a women empowerment organization, we have to promise ourselves to always work towards the safety and development of girl children.

Notably, NCDC is a self-governing national child welfare organization, established to promote women and child welfare and ensure child education in India.
