CPIM led delegation of opposition parties and organizations demands lodging of FIR against organizers and speakers of Jan Akrosh Morcha
Mumbai,March 17 (Scoop News)-A delegation of citizens and representatives of political parties including the CPI (M), AAP and Shiv Sena(UBT) met the Mira-Bhayandar Vasai Virar police commissioner with a letter listing elements from the vicious hate speech by Kajal Hindustani in Mira Road on Sunday. The letter also requests the police commissioner to take action against the perpetrator of hate speech as well as the organisers of the ‘Jan Akrosh Morcha’. Among those who attended were Sadiq Basha of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Sukhdev Banbanci of the AAP and Sabby Fernandes of Shiv Sena (UBT). The letter has also been signed by representatives of the Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

Sakal Hindu Samaj, an umbrella organisation of several Hindutva organisations such as Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Shiv Pratishthan and Sanatan Sanstha. During the rally, the group used divisive narratives like love jihad, land jihad and false theories of population explosion amongst Muslims. These rallies were in rural parts of the state at beginnings. Buoyed by the success and lack of action against the provocative speeches, the rallies began to be held in semi-urban areas and urban areas. Rallies are becoming ground to inflame communal tensions using hateful and inciteful speeches, false information and rumours, and Islamophobic and communal propaganda.

The most common theme peddled by Hindu supremacist groups were spread the conspiracy theory of ‘Love jihad’ that claims that there is a plot by Muslim men to seduce Hindu women in order to convert them to Islam. Similarly, “land jihad” proponents accuse Muslims of waging a campaign to encroach on public land and property owned by Hindus. Many of these rallies have been attended by BJP leaders. Speakers attempted to link local disputes between Hindus and Muslims to their larger agenda

Instead of taking strict action against them and initiating prosecution for their criminal acts, the police and state authorities have been turning a blind eye and granting permissions to the organisations to conduct their events/rallies. No action has been taken against the Hindu Jan Akrosh Morcha as of now.
Mr.Madhukar Pandey, IPS, the commissioner of police, patiently listened to members of the delegation as the excerpts of the hate speech were highlighted before him. He said that in compliance with Supreme Court guidelines, the event was video recorded and assured the delegation that legal advice on the complaint will be taken and the police will proceed according to the law. The delegation had demanded registration of an FIR and prosecution of the hate offenders. Sabby Fernandes told the CP that as a resident of Mira Road for 20 years, he has never seen such hate speeches being made.
