World TB DAY observed in Pulwama
Pulwama,March 24 (Scoop News)-District Tuberculosis Department, Pulwama today observed World TB Day to create awareness among the general public.
The programme was organized by Dr. Ruquaya Rasool Kapta and IEC incharge Shahzeena Mushtaq.
The programme was presided over by Chairman District Development Council Syed Abdul Bari, Additional District Development commissioner Pulwama, Sheikh Abdul Aziz.
Chief Medical Officer Pulwama Dr. Hassina Mir, Chief Medical Officer Shopian Dr Arshid Ahmad Tak, Deputy CMO Pulwama Dr. Tehmeena, District Immunization Officer Pulwama Dr. Masooda, Block Medical Officer Tral Virender Singh Bali, Block Medical Officer Pampore Dr. Asma, ADMO Pulwama,
BMO Rajpora Dr. Javaid, BMO Shopian Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Naik, MOTC Zainapora Principal GNM School Pulwama Dr. Aftab, MOTCs of all treatment Units, SNC Volunteers and students of GNM School, a large number of people of the area also participated in the programme.
Meanwhile, a rally was organized from GNM School Pulwama to District Hospital Gate under the chairpersonship of Chief Medical officer Pulwama.
During the programme banners were displayed and posters and pamphlets were distributed among the people.
Speaking on the occasion, incharge District Tuberculosis officer Pulwama said that all the workers of District Tuerculosis officer Pulwama and Shopian worked hard to reduce the mortality rate to less than 1% and drug defaulter rate to less than 2% and have achieved almost 100% treatment success rate.
Special attention was given to TB patients of private sector and all TB patients were followed upto two years post treatment, he said.
Chairman District Development Council Syed Abdul Bari awarded students from GNM School and Volunteers who participated in the seminar.
Certificates were distributed to the NTEP employees, Lab Technicians and volunteers who worked with commitment and dedication.
Pertinently, District Pulwama & Shopian was awarded TB free status as the incidence of TB patients has reduced to more than 80% since 2015.
Chief Medical Officer Pulwama Dr. Hassina Mir concluded the programme with vote of thanks.
