| Swachhata Pakhwada launched at CSIR-IIIM, Jammu | |
Jammu, May 01 (Scoop News)-In its resolute to work for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Mission, CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine has launched Swachhta Pakhwada today on May 1, 2023 at the main campus of the institute at Jammu. In this connection, the Pakhwara activities were inaugurated with the Swachhata Pledge and an awareness lecture on “Developmental Processes via-a-vis environmental concerns in Jammu & Kashmir” by Prof. Anil Kumar Raina, Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Jammu. Earlier, Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Director, CSIR-IIIM, Jammu administered the Swachhta pledge to scientific, technical and administrative staff and the scholars. Pertinently Swachhta Pakhwada is an initiative of the Prime Minister started in 2016 with the objective of bringing a fortnight of intense focus on the issues and practices of Swachhata by engaging GOI Ministries/Departments in their jurisdictions. Dr. Zabeer Ahmed, Director of IIIM, while launching the Swachhata Pakhwara activities schedule for next two weeks in the institute said that Swachhta Pakhwada is a significant initiative under the Swachh Bharat Mission and it is imperative for government offices to provide a clean and healthy working environment for its employees/visitors. He also emphasised the need to educate people about the virtues of good sanitation practices and urged everyone to undertake special drives to clean their workplaces. CSIR-IIIM, Jammu under the ministry of Science and Technology has been observing this program every year, he added and mentioned that for cleaning of all labs, disposal of wastes, cleaning whole premises of institute and its beautification have been planned during the Pakhwara. For undertaking the various activities during this Swachhta Pakhwada, scientists, students, supporting staff and Safai Karamcharies will take active part, he said. It was also mentioned that IIIM has a standing "Swachh Bharat Mission Committee'' comprising of P N Gupta, Vikram Singh (Sr. COA), Ajay Kumar, Ravi Shanker, Rajendra Bhanwaria, Love Sharma, Chandra Pal Singh, Arvind Kumar Yadav, Jai Sharma (AEE Civil), Bhupinder Singh (Security officer).Director IIIM appreciated the role of all HODs, different stakeholders, especially the students, sanitation section and engineering department, in maintaining a healthy environment at the institute.
