On this occasion, Surinder Kumar nominated Ward-2 President, Munish Kumar Ward-24 President, Gulshan Kumar Ward-12 President and Manmeet Singh Secretary DCC Jammu Urban. Prominent among those present on the occasion include Dawarka Choudhary, Varinder Manhas, Pawan Dev Singh, VIjay Malhotra, Pawan Sharma, Satpal Sapolia, Ram Parkash Magotra, Jugal Kishore , Rakesh Sharma, Anil Kumar, Ravi Panotra, Manmeet Singh, Gulshan Kumar Munish Kumar, Surinder Kumar besides others.

Speaking on the occasion, Bhalla said that ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is raking up new issues everyday to hide its failures. He claimed that people were ready to teach a lesson to the BJP in all forthcoming elections.“All the promises made by the BJP to the electorate in the run-up to the 2019 Lok Sabha and assembly elections turned out to be ‘jumlas’. People of J&K are no longer going to be misled by the BJP and will hold the ruling party accountable for its failures,” he said.He said all the development works have come to a grinding halt under the BJP government. The implementation of development schemes of public interest has either been halted or is being delayed deliberately, he said, adding that no promises mentioned in the BJP manifesto were fulfilled. He said that with the onset of summers, people were facing water and power crises.

Bhalla accused the BJP of having betrayed the people of Jammu by coining emotional slogans and making false promises during elections and then forgetting the commitments after winning the elections. Bhalla said that the prevailing political and security scenario in J&K tells the story of total failure of the Central government which left the erstwhile state in total chaos. “There is no accountability in the administration as a result of which the people are suffering on all fronts,” he said. Bhalla said the bureaucratic connection with the people is at an all-time low.In the current spell of LG’s rule, the people have no access to the top echelons of the administration, especially at a time when people of J&K confronting various crisis apart from unprecedented inflation, he said.

Bhalla asked the administration to wake up from its deep slumber and attend to the problems of the people as the entire union territory is reeling under shortage of basic necessities. He expressed anguish that the J&K bureaucracy is showing “scant regard” to the issues being raised by public representatives. Bhalla expressed serious concern over the difficulties confronting the people in the absence of a democratic system in J&K. He said J&K was divided into two Union Territories against the wishes of the people and they were now being denied their democratic rights by the BJP aiming to hide its wrong policies and utter failure. The Congress shall continue to fight for the democratic rights of the people and ensure justice, he added.

Bhalla accused BJP Govt of having failed to address the problems of the people of J&K and said that the miseries of the people of Jammu and Kashmir have increased manifold after they cheated people of Jammu. The Government is viewing the situation through its own mirror otherwise everyone knows how better the situation is in J&K. He said that BJP government is deliberately delaying the holding of early assembly elections and restoration of full statehood to J&K and asked people to gear up for decisive fight. He regretted that instead of addressing grievances of the people, this government brazenly participated in photo sessions to get cheap publicity and just to befool the people by making false promises. He said due to lack of transparency and accountability, J&K has been pushed into a virtual whirlpool of maladministration and despair.

Yogesh Sawhney speaking on the occasion said that development process was almost paralyzed while major initiatives taken by the previous Congress -led coalition government have been almost abandoned. He appealed party workers to give a strong signal to the centre that people are annoyed with the BJP’s actions and failure of their leaders who were elected by the people with great expectations. He urged people to support Congress as only Congress can fight the wrong policies and politics of diversion and hate of the BJP in the whole country. He said that unity in diversity is the basic strength of our nation and long settled principle of Congress party. He asked the central government when it would ensure a congenial atmosphere for elections to take place in Jammu and Kashmir and elect a government of the people in the state. He also accused the BJP of failing to read the pulse of J&K people and said it cannot shun and run away from owning the responsibility of creating this mess and back-stabbing the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Sawhney further said "the directionless, agenda-less and clueless policy of the BJP government has left the people of Jammu and Kashmir in complete despair and this is a grave national concern. BJP govt lacks economic roadmap for inclusion and progress for the people of J&K, said former Minister. He said soaring unemployment in J&K is a serious concern. The ongoing uncertainty has severely damaged the prospect of a stable economy. And the rising unemployment puts the final nail in the coffin of economic stability. The job markets have been pushed to the edge, both in the public and private sector, with no fresh opportunities visible. As J&K doesn’t have a vibrant private sector in place, the burden of employment ultimately falls on the public sector, which, unfortunately, it is unable to tackle as the absorption rate is low, he said. The government and its various departments do not seem, at all, serious about these rising figures. There are not enough or even requisite posts advertised in the government departments, and even, if advertised, they are never worked out effectively – lack of proper schedules and criteria, relapsing of the advertisements as per their whims, corruption, backdoor entries, favouritism etc. are the main loopholes, added Sawhney.
