| DPAP demands compensation to hailstorm affected farmers, orchardists | |
Srinagar, May 26 (Scoop News)-Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) on Friday expressed concern over losses caused to crops and orchards in different parts of Kashmir and urged upon authorities to provide compensation to affected farmers.
In a statement, the party spokesperson said that hail storm and gusty winds have caused huge damages to crops and orchards.
“The farmers and orchardists in various districts of Kashmir have suffered huge losses due to unprecedented hailstorm, gusty winds and heavy rains,” he said.
He added that farmers and orchardists were already under distress due to earlier losses faced by them past year.
DPAP has appealed the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to direct the concerned officials to assess the losses and to announce a special financial package to the affected farmers, orchardists who have suffered extensive damages due to hailstorm, winds and heavy rains that caused havoc in Kashmir.
The hailstorm has wrecked havoc in various districts of Kashmir past evening which has resulted into huge loss to fruit and other agricultural crops.
