| Police arrests 08 drug peddlers/smugglers; Contraband substances recovered | |
Srinagar, May 26 (Scoop News)- Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested 08 drug peddlers/smugglers in Shopian & Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Shopian, a police party led by Incharge Police Post Keegam at a checkpoint established at Peerpora Keegam intercepted two suspicious persons. During checking, 184 grams of Charas like substance wrapped in corn leaves was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Dar son of Sonaullha Dar resident of Arihal Pulwama & Akir Ayoub Hakim son of Mohd Ayoub resident of Arihal Pulwama.
In another action, a police party led by SHO PS Zainapora under the supervision of SDPO Zainapora Shri Riaz Ahmad-JKPS at a checkpoint established at Reban Shopian intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK13G-7741 with two persons on board. However, after seeing the naka party, both the persons left the vehicle and managed to flee from the spot. During search of the said vehicle, 3.5kgs of Poppy Straw like substance was recovered and the vehicle was seized.
In Baramulla, a police party under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Shri Sajjad Bukhari-JKPS assisted by Incharge PP Delina during routine patrolling at Juhama Baramulla arrested a wanted drug smuggler identified as Shabir Ahmad Lone son of Ab Rehman Lone resident of Nadihal Baramulla. During search, 72 grams of charas like substance was recovered from his possession.
Similarly, a police party under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Shri Sajjad Bukhari-JKPS, assisted by SHO PS Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Khanpora Baramulla arrested 02 wanted drug smugglers identified as Shahid Ahmad Marazi son of Ghulam Qadir resident of Kanlibagh Baramulla & Adil Ahmad Gogri son of Bashir Ahmad resident of Khanpora Baramulla. During search, 12 grams of Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from their possession.
Moreover, a police party under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla assisted by SHO PS Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Janbazpora Baramulla near Juice Factory arrested 03 wanted drug smugglers identified as Atiqullah Lone son of Mohd Akbar Lone resident of Tujjar Sharief Sopore, Gh Mohiuddin Dar son of Ab Ahad Dar resident of Ladoora Rafiabad Sopore & Gulzar Ahmad Ganie son of Habibullah Ganie resident of Chijhama Rafiabad Sopore. During search, 101 grams of Brown Sugar like substance was recovered from their possession.
All the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
