Commissioner Secretary, Padma Angmo visits ITI, Polytechnic Kargil
Reviews infrastructure projects and skill development courses in both institutes


Kargil, June 07 (Scoop News)-Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare, Higher Education, Technical Education and Skill Development Department Ladakh, Padma Angmo today visited Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and Government Polytechnic Kargil to review the infrastructure projects and functioning of the institutes .

Joint Director Information/Additional Secretary Higher Education Department, UT, Ladakh, Imteeaz Kacho, Principal Polytechnic Kargil , Superintendent ITI Kargil and staff of ITI and Government Polytechnic Kargil accompanied the Secretary.

She directed Superintendent ITI Kargil to depute trainees of various trades for on the job training with agencies like NHPC, PDD and other relevant departments/ industries related to various courses.

She exhorted upon the staff of ITI to strive towards making ITI Kargil, one of the top ITIs of the country and also sought active participation and feedback from the trainees in this regard.

During the course of interaction with the trainees, the trainees requested for an exposure tour to other ITIs, increasing the capacity of the computer lab, and installation of sanitary pad vending machines and incinerators in the campus.

She assured the students that every necessary step for improving the quality of training and other trainees welfare measures, as suggested by the students from time to time, shall be the prime focus of the department.

Secretary Padma Angmo also visited Government Polytechnic Kargil and reviewed the construction of infrastructure projects and functioning of various departments of the institute.

She directed the Principal Polytechnic for submission of proposal for new construction as required under guidelines of the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).

Secretary Padma Angmo added that the new workshops/buildings shall be immediately taken over from PWD Department Kargil, and made operational, after completion of the minor required pending works.

She also visited the workshops of the institute and directed the faculties to bring the machinery in use. She stressed upon conducting more practical classes of the students.

She directed the Principal to immediately assess the existing machinery equipments of various departments and submit proposal for procurement of required machinery and equipments.
