| Apni Party, Auto Union Kathua deputation calls on ADC Kathua | | Seem action against e-rickshaw owners for violation of rules |
Kathua,September 26 (Scoop News)-A deputation of Apni Party led by Khushboo Bhagat, spokesperson of the Party today called on Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, Ranjit Singh.
The deputation was also accompanied by Auto Union Kathua President Vijay Kumar, Vice President and other members who submitted a memorandum regarding constant violation of directions/ transport department' rules by e-rickshaw owners/drivers. These violations happen on different routes and restricted areas so that the commercial passenger vehicles can be regulated in a proper way to avoid violation of rules by one way or another.
"All the owners of e-rickshaw were strictly directed not to drive any e-rickshaw on the National Highway (NH-44) Jammu-Pathankot from Lakhanpur to Londi Morh," Ms Bhagat informed the ADC Kathua.
She informed that these e-rickshaw owners were warned of strict action under Motor Vehicle Act in case of non-compliance of the orders. But they continued with their illegal practice.
"These 24 directions are constantly being violated by the e-rickshaws on all the routes in Kathua district and it also violates the rights of other passenger vehicle owners who ply their vehicles on defined routes in Kathua district," she informed.
She further stated that this violation has generated an uneasiness among the passenger vehicle owners as well as compromised the safety of the passengers. "There are reports of excessive charging of passenger fare by e-rickshaws," she added.
To ensure the implementation of the orders of the district administration/transport department, she reminded that the team of designated officers/officials was constituted for fixation of route for e-rickshaws for proposed routes for these rickshaws i.e., Londi and adjoining areas up to 10 kms radius areas; Chakra and adjoining areas up to 10 kms radius area, Haripur Padal and adjoining areas up to 10 kms radius area; Marheen and adjoining areas up to 10 kms radius area; Haria Chak and adjoining area up to 10 kms radius area, and Kotepunnu and adjoining area up to 10 kms radius area, excluding existing routes of mini-buses and national highway.
They requested the ADC Kathua to kindly investigate the matter in the interest of the general masses so that the violation of rules and overcharging of passenger fare by the e-rickshaws in Kathua. The deputation also demanded action against the violators.
On hearing the Apni Party deputation, the ADC Kathua assured that he would investigate the matter.
