BJP former MLAs take up demands of SCs, POJK, WPRs, DPs with the LG
Jammu, February 12 (Scoop News)-A delegation of former MLAs of Bharatiya Janata Party, led by former minister Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, called on the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, submitted a memorandum containing genuine demands of the Scheduled Caste (SC) demands of SCs and POJK, West Pak refugees and DPS communities of J&K, and sought his kind intervention in resolving the same to provide respite to the aggrieved community.

The memorandum submitted, mentioned that reservation in promotion in Government jobs for SCs was discontinued a few years ago and was promised to be restored, but even after years nothing has been done in this regard and as such, there is resentment among a large section of these communities.

The memorandum mentioned that as demanded by the Jammu-based SC employees posted in Kashmir, a comprehensive transfer policy needs to be formulated for these employees at the earliest.

It further demanded a recommendation to the Union Govt for reserving one Lok Sabha seat for SCs in Jammu and Kashmir UT as this community has a large population in J&K UT.

With regard to reservation quota in the UT, the memorandum demanded that it need to be enhanced, as after the abrogation of Article 370, inclusion of SC, POJK, West Pakistan refugees and Valmikis in Jammu and Kashmir, the population of the SCs has gone up.

As far POJK refugees, Displaced Persons (DPs) and West Pakistan refugees, the memorandum demanded conferring the land ownership rights to this community.

The delegation also stressed that local as well as other land allottees be provided PM Kissan Samman Nidhi benefits.

Compensation to all the land owners, whose land is situated across the defense wire on the Indo-Pak border in the UT, was also demanded through this memorandum.

The delegation, expressed hope that the Lieutenant Governor would look into the genuine demands of the SCs, POJK, West Pak refugees and DPS communities and take appropriate action to provide respite to the communities.
