Why should Sikhs vote for BJP, asks Sikh Progressive Front

Jammu, April 24 (Scoop News)- S Balvinder Singh President Sikh Progressive Front along with S Manjeet Singh General Secretary, S Rajinder Singh joint secretary while addressing the press conference said that Undoubtedly, Prime Minister Narender Modi has undertaken some commendable initiatives, having emotional values for the Sikh Community as a whole at National level . But no sincere efforts are being made by JKUT Administration for addressing the Issues of JKUT Sikh.

So Mr Singh urged upon Sikh Community members when BJP representative approach you and ask for your vote, must ask from them why below mentioned demands of the Sikhs have not been addressed since long : -
POLITICAL RESERVATION : Though BJP ensured political representations to various section of society like SC, ST, OBC, Paharis, Gujjars, Pandits under Migrant Quots and POJK but Sikh community has been notably excluded. This exclusion makes them feel marginalized and deprived of their rightful place in the national mainstream.

SRO-425 : Despite assurances from Hon’ble LG of JKUT, Sh. Manoj Sinha, during a meeting with SPF delegation on March 14, 2022, where he pledged to advertise vacancies for non-migrant Sikh youths under SRO 425, no action has been taken to date.

Exclusion of Punabi Language : JKUT official Language bill was passed in the Parliament in 2020 but unfortunately Punjabi was not included in the said Bill despite the fact that that not only Sikhs but also large number of non Sikh population of JK also speaks Punjabi. Dr Jitender Singh stated in the Parliament that only two percent peoples of JKUT speaks Punjabi and finally excluded from the Bill.

Non Implementation of National Minority Commission ACT in JKUT : despite being number of representation submitted to Govt NMC has not been set up in Jammu and Kashmir and thus deprived the micro-Scopic Sikh minority Community of their rights under NMC Act: despite being written by Iqbal Singh Lalpura Chairman NMC.

Additional Ex-gratia Compensation to the NOK’s of those killed in anti Sikh Riots of 1989: File pertaining to the providing additional ex-gratia relief to the next of kin (NOK’s) of the 14 peoples killed in Jammu during Anti – Sikh Riots of 1989 is lying pending in the Civil Secretariat for the last three years.

Exclusion of of Sikh Member in JKPSC : Despite long standing assurances given by JKUT Administration, no Sikh member has been included in the JK PSC.

Non Appointment of any High Court from Sikh Community.

Not Granting OBC Status to Sikhs living in Valley, Sikhs living in Valley are not been included in the OBC category despite being given assurances by JKUT Adm. and number of representation submitted to government and Chairman J&K Socially & Economically in the year 2021 by SPF.

Shifting Installation of Statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur from Kunjwani to Bhagwati Nagar : Govt shifted the installation of Statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur from Kunjwani Chowk to Bhagwati Nagar despite being passed passed from the House of JMC on 08.06.2020

Govt failed to fulfill the demands of POJK DP’s of 1947 duly recommended by the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home affairs GOI vide its report No.183. tabled before both houses of Parliament on dt. 22nd Dec. 2014 whereby it was decided to give them one time Interim relief of 30 Lacs, but have only given 5.50 Lacs.

Present govt revoked ownership rights granted under 254 C of the land allotted to the displaced persons of POJK . Now they are not allowed to sell the land allotted to them seventy years.

All present their in the PC stated that Slogan given by non other than Prime Minister of Our Country Sh Narender Modi SABKA SAATH SABKA VIKAS’ proved a hollow slogan for Sikh community of JKUT. Aggrieved over that we are compelled to oppose.

Sikh progressive members said that they are not opposing any particular party but right now they are asking their community to think twice before casting your vote and suggests them that during assembly elections in the state vote for party who redresses their issues or includes their just and right demands in their manifesto

Other prominent members who were present in the press conference are S Paramjit Singh, S Tejinder Singh member DGPC, S Iqbal Singh, S Gurdeep Singh, S Manmohan Singh, S Satinder Pal Singh banto, S Pritam Singh, S Jaswinder Singh Jassa, S Jaswinder Singh Kuku etc.
