Moral Education Essential For Combating Issues Like Drug Addiction And Corruption; Says PSAJK President | | Srinagar, September 04 (Scoop News)-The Private Schools Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) Zone Dooru-Verinag successfully organized a one-day inter-school conference at the historic Mughal Garden in Verinag. The conference, themed "The Importance of Moral Education in Schools," gathered distinguished guests, educators, students, and civil society members for a day of insightful discussions on the crucial role of moral education in the school curriculum.
The event was graced by G. N. Var, President of PSAJK, who was as the Chief Guest, and Mohammed Syed Wani, District President of PSAJK Anantnag, as the Guest of Honour. Other notable guests included Shah Gulzar, Chief Organizer of PSAJK; Javid Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Dooru Citizens Forum; and Ghulam Nabi Ganai from Civil Society Verinag. Numerous schools participated, with students and teachers contributing to the vibrant discussions.
Students delivered compelling presentations, emphasizing the responsibilities of schools in today’s challenging times. In his address, PSAJK President G. N Var emphasized the critical role of schools in shaping the moral and ethical values of students, urging educators to prioritize this aspect of education. "Moral education is the cornerstone of a strong and just society. Schools must take up the mantle of instilling these values in our children, ensuring they grow into responsible and ethical citizens. This conference has highlighted the urgency of this mission," Var stated.
He further noted, "In today’s digital era, where information is abundant but discernment is crucial, the need for moral education has never been more pressing. The proliferation of technology and social media presents both opportunities and challenges. As we navigate these changes, it is imperative that we equip our students not only with academic knowledge but also with the ethical framework to use it wisely."
Var also highlighted the necessity of comprehensive teacher training to ensure the effective delivery of moral education. "Teachers are the cornerstone of quality education. For moral education to be impactful, our educators need continuous training and support to integrate these values into their teaching methodologies. This is essential for addressing pressing issues such as drug addiction among the younger generation and widespread corruption."
