Kisan Mela Cum Fruit Exhibition 2024 celebrates agriculture achievements in Ladakh


Leh, September 11 (Scoop News)-LAHDC Leh, hosted the Kisan Mela Cum Fruit Exhibition 2024 at the Horticulture Complex, Agling, Leh. The event was graced by Hon'ble Chairman/CEC LAHDC, Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson as the Chief Guest, and Hon’ble Executive Councillor, Horticulture Ghulam Mehdi as the Guest of Honour. Director Horticulture UT Ladakh Shri Tsewang Phuntsog also attended the function on Sept 10.
The exhibition showcased an impressive range of horticultural produce, including different varieties of apples, chuli (a local fruit), watermelons, and an array of vibrant flowers. This display highlighted the region's rich horticultural heritage and demonstrated the exceptional results achieved by local farmers. Each exhibit highlighted the quality and diversity of produce cultivated in Ladakh, reflecting the advancements in farming techniques and the dedication of the agricultural community. The variety of fruits and flowers on display not only celebrated the region's unique climatic conditions but also emphasized the successful integration of modern agricultural practices in enhancing local produce.The event was attended by over 200 farmers and showcased around 450 exhibits of fruits, flowers and value added products.
In his address, Chief Executive Councillor Adv. Tashi Gyaltsan emphasized the significance of such events in showcasing the progress and performance of local farmers. He highlighted the crucial role of collaboration between farmers and various departments to ensure they receive the necessary support and equipment. He encouraged farmers to actively participate and take advantage of the resources offered by the Administration and LAHDC. CEC highlighted that LAHDC provides subsidies for horticulture tools to support and enhance agricultural practices. H’CEC also expressed a desire to extend these events to more remote regions such as Sham, Chamgthang, and Rong, underlining their importance in raising awareness about agricultural advancements. CEC also appreciated the department for organizing the event and bringing farmers and Scientist at one platform.
Hon’ble Executive Councillor Ghulam Mehdi discussed the advantages of modern farming technologies and the necessity of pushing forward with innovation in horticulture. He underscored the benefits of integrating new technologies and methods to enhance productivity and support farmers in the region.
The Kisan Mela Cum Fruit Exhibition 2024 not only celebrated agricultural achievements but also served as a platform for promoting further development and cooperation in the horticultural sector.
