T R Gupta Trust provides uniforms to students in slum area


Jammu,September 13 (Scoop News)- Continuing with its charitable initiatives, the T. R. Gupta Public Charitable Trust today distributed School Uniforms to students of the Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Sarvodaya School, Rajeev Nagar, Narwal, a slum area of Jammu.

Trustee Dr Ashok Kumar Gupta, former HoD of Pediatrics, GMC, Jammu distributed these uniforms to boys and girls’ students from Cruche to eight class. In all, 542 sets of uniforms were distributed that included shirts, pants/skirts, socks & school belts. These sets of uniforms were specially got stitched by the Trust as per the size of each student given by the school.

Smt. Rashmi Sharma, Chairperson of the NGO, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam Sarvodaya Society which is running two Schools in slum areas, Rajinder Motial, General Secretary of the Trust, Kailash Langer & K B Jandial, Trustees and Raman Pargal Manager and the Principal Smt Jogita Bakshi and staff of the school were present.

B R Sharma, State Election Commissioner and former Chief Secretary was the Guest of Honour.

Earlier, Jandial in his welcome speech, spoke about the vision of the Trust set up by a great philanthropist & nonagenarian, T R Gupta and said that the Trust is engaged in multipronged initiatives aimed at helping the poor and neglected sections of the society. It has been holding Medical Camps in far flung areas of Jammu, Rajouri and Kathua districts where hundreds of rural people were provided specialized treatment and free medicines. The Trust has set up a full-fledged Clinic at Marble Market about two years ago where on an average, 50 patients are seeking treatment daily. The Clinic has seven specialists which include physicians, Pediatrician, dermatologist, ophthalmologist, and physiotherapist. Besides the pathology lab, it has set up a complete a physio-therapy unit.

The Trust has been rendering help to needy schools including Govt School in meeting their immediate requirement for the students. It has been giving financial help to the needed downtrodden students to meet the annual fee of the School. In some cases, financial help has also been extended to buy life saving drugs and meet expenditure on certain surgical procedures.

B R Sharma commended the Trust for its philanthropic and social endeavors and hoped that the poor and the needy people would take full benefit of the wide-ranging initiatives.

Chairperson, Smt. Rashmi Sharma extended profound gratitude to Dr Ashok Gupta and other Trustees for meeting the urgent need of students who come from very poor families in the slum areas. She hoped that the Trust’s benevolence would be continued to be extended to the school in future as well.

Principal Jogita Bakshi and school staff extended full support to the Trust in distributing uniforms to such a large number of students.
