We honor Gandhi's legacy and recognize its profound relevance in our times: Karra | Pays floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 155th anniversary | Srinagar, October 02 (Scoop News)-On the auspicious occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Tariq Hameed Karra reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to the principles of non-violence, peace, and harmony.
Addressing an impressive function held at Srinagar Party Office, Karra said as Mahatma Gandhi aptly said, "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, and then you win." These words inspire us to persevere in our struggle for justice and equality.
JKPCC President said that in Jammu and Kashmir's current challenging situation, I (Karra)firmly believe that embracing the Gandhian path is the need of the hour. We are fighting for our fundamental rights, statehood, and dignity and this can only be achieved through Gandhi's style of non-violent resistance.
Today, when the forces of hatred and division, inspired by Nathuram Godse's ideology, seem dominant, we proudly declare ourselves Gandhians. We remember that Gandhi stood courageously against fascism, and his legacy continues to guide us. Whenever Godse's forces try to dominate, there will always be Gandhi, whom people will love and follow, Karra said.
Inspired by Gandhi's unwavering courage, a modern-day Gandhi has traveled thousands of kilometers with a torch of love to keep Gandhian thought alive. This selfless individual has traversed the length and breadth of our state, spreading the message of peace, love, and non-violence. We are proud of this courageous Gandhi of our era. Karra added and said Let us pledge to walk on Gandhi's path, to keep the flame of peace and non-violence alive. As Martin Luther King Jr. aptly said, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."
We honor Gandhi's legacy and recognize its profound relevance in our times. Let us strive to build a brighter future for Jammu and Kashmir, founded on the principles of love, compassion, and non-violence. As we move forward, let us remember Gandhi's words: "Be the change you wish to see in the world." Let us be that change, and let us create a world where peace, justice, and dignity reign supreme. As we honor Gandhi ji's legacy, we also remember Lal Bahadur Shastri, India's third Prime Minister, whose birth anniversary coincides with Gandhi Jayanti. Shastri's simplicity, humility, and dedication to the nation are qualities we admire. His iconic slogan, "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan," resonated with the people and emphasized the importance of soldiers and farmers ¹. Under his leadership, India made significant strides in food production through the Green Revolution and increased milk supply through the White Revolution, Karra said while paying tributes to Lal Bhadur Shastri.
He further said that Shastri's vision for a socialist democracy, where everyone has freedom and prosperity, aligns with our goals ². We recall his words: "We believe in peace and peaceful development, not only for ourselves, but for people all over the world." His commitment to non-alignment and world peace continues to inspire us.
