| GDC Zanskar concludes 3-day educational tour to Kargil, Drass | |
Kargil, October 05 (Scoop News)-Government Degree College Zanskar successfully conducted a three-day tour for its 3rd Semester in Kargil and Drass starting on October 02, 2024.
The students explored the glacier deposits of Minamarg, gained insights into glacial formations and their impact on the landscape.
They also interacted with geologists and engineers working on the vital Zojila Tunnel project and learnt about the challenges and advancements in tunnel engineering.
A notable discovery during the tour was the pyrite crystals located in metamorphic rocks extracted from Zojila Tunnel, providing a real-world example of mineral formation.
Additionally, students visited the sedimentary layers of Matayen to study the attitude and orientation of the rocks, enhancing their understanding of sedimentary processes.
Students were also engaged in an interaction with the students of GDC, Drass.
As part of the tour, the students also visited Munshi Habibullah Mission Higher Secondary School (MHMS), Rewa Society at Kargil to gain practical exposure to inclusive education and rehabilitation efforts for differently-abled students.
