Advisor Dr Pawan Kotwal chairs a meeting on Shanti Stupa beautification


Leh, October 14 (Scoop News)-The Advisor to Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor, UT Ladakh Dr Pawan Kotwal chaired a meeting with the concerned Departments to discuss various issues related to the beautification of Shanti Stupa in Leh.

At the outset of the meeting, the Secretary of the Ladakh Shanti Stupa Management Committee, Tsering Samphel brought to the notice of the Advisor various issues pertaining to the management of Shanti Stupa which includes power supply, water supply, shifting the existing cafeteria to a more suitable location, developing a footpath along the hillside for visitors, and finalizing the demarcation of land around the stupa to prevent encroachment. He emphasized the need to pay urgent attention to address these concerns.

Advisor Dr Kotwal expressed his assurance to consider their request for beautification and better management of Shanti Stupa which is one of the famous tourist spots in Leh. He said the UT Administration will make all possible efforts towards the site’s development and address all other issues in a time-bound manner. He instructed the concerned departments to work in convergence to ensure the maintenance of the aesthetic beauty of Shanti Stupa and to make it more public/tourist-friendly.

The meeting was attended by the Administrative Secretary, PDD/Tourism & Culture Department, Vikram Singh Malik; Deputy Commissioner Leh, Santosh Sukhdeve; President, Management Committee, Shanti Stupa, Leh, C. Phunsog, Chief Engineer, PW(R&B); Chief Engineer, PDD; Secretary Management Committee, Ladakh Shanti Stupa, Leh; Tehsildar Leh.
