Art Awards distribution ceremony held at Kala Kendra

Jammu, October 15 (Scoop News)-The Award Distribution Ceremony for the '3-day International Art Exhibition 2024' was held today at the Kala Kendra, Jammu. The event was jointly organized by the Kala Kendra Society in collaboration with Art Express Gujarat. The ceremony was graced by several esteemed personalities.

Prof. Shri Dhar Mishar , Director of Sanskrit University, Jammu Campus, who was the Chief Guest, along with Dr. Javaid Rahi, Secretary, Kala Kendra Society, Jammu, and prominent artists K K Gandhi, Ms. Richa Gupta, and Vikas Dogra, who were also the part of the presidium.

Welcoming the dignitaries and participants, Dr. Javaid Rahi stated that it was a remarkable opportunity for Jammu to host over 50 artists who attended the event in person. He highlighted that the exhibition showcased 150 artworks by 90 artists, representing various states and Union Territories of India, in the G R Santosh Gallery at Kala Kendra. Dr. Rahi emphasized that the objective of the event was to create a platform for artists from Jammu and Kashmir to engage and interact with their counterparts from across the nation.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Shri Dhar Mishar congratulated the award winners in categories such as painting, sculpture, and photography. He mentioned that the exhibition served as a unique opportunity for the local artists to experience and learns from the diversity of artistic expressions across the country. He further stressed the need for Kala Kendra to regularly host such exhibitions to enable artists and art enthusiasts to explore high-quality works from different regions of India and even abroad.

Dr. Babita Hada from Art Express Gujarat stated that her organization looks forward to collaborating with Kala Kendra and other local institutions to organize similar events in the future.

A jury comprising K K Gandhi, Ms. Richa Gupta, and Vikas Dogra selected 20 artists for awards under different categories. In the Senior Category, the Best International Artist Award was presented to Amit Solanki, the Best International Art Critic Award to Chintha Venkateshwara, and the International Female Artist Award to Monika. Consolation prizes were given to Namrita Bhargava, Sonika Wagh, Rebeta Dorich, and Dr. Vishwajit. Additionally, 12 awards were distributed in the Junior and Amateur categories.

The event provided a valuable opportunity for both amateur and professional artists to showcase their talents and engage in meaningful artistic dialogues with peers from different regions. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks, marking the success of the exhibition and its contribution to the art culture of the region.
