CUKashmir conference on ‘Indian Ethos in English Writings’ culminates | |
Ganderbal, October 25 (Scoop News)-On the second day of the two-day National Conference on "Indian Ethos in English Writings (IEEW2024),” organised by the Department of English, School of Languages, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) in a hybrid mode (online and offline), engaging paper presentations, thought-provoking discussions, and insightful plenary talks were delivered by Prof. Vandana Sharma, Dean, School of Languages, Central University of Jammu and Prof. Nibedita Mukerji, Professor, Department of English, Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University, Purulia, WB, India.
There were 54 paper presentations in two slots with three parallel technical sessions that were chaired by Professors drawn from various government universities from different states of India. The faculty in charges of technical sessions informed that the Chairs were appreciative of the quality of papers presented in their respective sessions and meaningful post presentation interaction.
The conference culminated with the valedictory session, graced by Prof. Shugufta Shaheen, Professor of English, OSD to VC, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad. Conference chairperson, Prof. Sandhya Tiwari presented the report with details regarding papers, quality, outcomes and proposed outcomes. The key takeaways include successful exploration about the intersections of Indian Ethos and English writings. The scholars emphasized the importance of bringing to the portals the celebrated status of Indian thought and philosophy by authors like E M Forster, TS Eliot etc. The need for further research and dialogue by the scholars in the light of new dimensions introduced by NEP2020 was also highlighted in the valedictions. The event concluded on a high note, fostering meaningful connections and intellectual discourse among scholars.
Conference Outcomes: The conference chair proposed to bring out an edited volume of compilation to be published by a national or international publisher. Prof.Shugufta Shaheen also assured of collaboration in academic/research activities and student exchange. In addition to this, among the fraternity plans for future collaborations and research initiatives were also discussed.
Prof. Sandhya Tiwari, expressed gratitude to participants, speakers, and organizers for their contributions. Assistant Prof. Dr. Ishrat Bashir proposed the vote of thanks.
