Director Agriculture Jammu Visits Nowshera Maize and Agro FPO to Strengthen Local Agricultural Initiatives | |
Rajouri, December 08 (Scoop News)- Director Agriculture Jammu, Shri Arvinder Singh Reen today visited the Nowshera Maize and Agro Producers Cooperative Limited (FPO) in Panchayat Bhawani, Zone Dibber, District Rajouri today. The purpose of the visit was to engage with the members of the FPO and strengthen Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) in the Jammu region.
During the visit, Director Agriculture took the opportunity to observe the diverse range of products offered by the Nowshera Maize and Agro FPO. He expressed his appreciation for the high quality of the products and the excellent packaging, which reflects the FPO’s commitment to quality standards.
Shri Sunil Choudhary, Chairman of the Nowshera Maize and Agro Producers Cooperative Limited, shared with the Director A.S Reen that the FPO specializes in a variety of products, including organic corn flour and millets. The main objective of the FPO is to collect maize from local farmers, process it, and package it for sale. Furthermore, the FPO is a member of Unati and is in the process of creating a unique Millet Parsad for the Mata Mangla Devi Temple, which is also being marketed to other states across India.
The Director of Agriculture commended the hard work and dedication of the FPO members, as well as the outstanding quality of their products. He reaffirmed that the Agriculture Department is committed to supporting such initiatives that uplift local agriculture and empower farmers. Director Agriculture assured the members of the FPO that the Agriculture Department would provide full assistance in enhancing their initiatives, particularly by helping to promote their products on e-marketplaces for wider visibility.
The program was attended by the Directors and members of the FPO, along with senior officials from the Agriculture Department, including Chief Agriculture Officer S. Sohan Singh, SDAO Nowshera, AEO Dibber, and other Agriculture officers.
The visit served to underscore the Agriculture Department's dedication to promoting and supporting FPOs in the Jammu region, facilitating their growth, and contributing significantly to the local agricultural economy.
Awareness program on poster, video making competition by Chief Electoral Officer held at Sankoo Campus, GDC Kargil
Kargil, December 08 (Scoop News)-Sankoo Campus, GDC Kargil in collaboration with SVEEP Team Kargil on Saturday organized an awareness program for college students regarding participation in UT level Poster & Video Making Competition on "encouraging newly eligible voters to register and participate in electoral process".
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ahmad Ali, Assistant Professor Zoology spoke on the 'Importance of Informed Prospective Voters', and emphasized on the fundamental step to rightfully and vigilantly voting for the right leader for the society.
Further, College Campus SVEEP Convenor, Dr. Azra Khatoon addressed the audience by highlighting the importance of voter education, voting rights and how elections must be inclusive and fair. She further underscored the valuable and skillful contribution of the youth in bringing the right kind of changes within the community. She also encouraged the students to participate in the video and poster making competition and help obtain the objective of SVEEP.
A detailed lecture was presented by Bashir Hussain (SVEEP Core Member, Kargil) regarding ECI SVEEP and focused on Poster and Short Video Making Competition. Pertinently, the short video duration should 1-2 minutes with size not more than 100 MB and poster should be not be more than 10 MB.
The program was moderated by Mohd. Hassanain, student of 5th semester Sankoo Campus. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Azra Khatoon, Convener SVEEP, Sankoo Campus GDC Kargil.
The program was attended by Senior Faculty teaching members, other teaching and non teaching staff, students of the college, District SVEEP Team members were present during the awareness program.
